Dear All,

Watched the newest version of Karnan at AVM Rajeshwari after a lot of self convincing exercise. It was nothing but sheer massacre of the monumental works of our Master Creator Shri. Shri. MSV.

The re-recordings and the interludes were chaotic and at many places sounded absolutely unwarranted. I really wonder as to what prompted the "powers that be", behind this venture to stoop to this level of literally mutilating the very music that was synonymous with the great success that the movie enjoyed decades back. Though the present version is running to packed houses, I really have no clue as to how many of them are coming to enjoy the movie in it's totality including the musical part of it.

Whatever said and done, like how Karnan the character was neglected , humiliated, insulted & sacrificed in the epic Mahabharatha, we felt the same treatment was meted out to our Musical Karnan, Shri. Shri. MSV.

I am sure all of the similar projects in the pipeline will meet with the same fate as that of Karnan. Thank God for, we have now enlightened ourselves on what to watch & what not to from today!!!

MSV IS MUSIC, ALWAYS!!!

This is what callous people to do fine pieces of art in Tamilnadu, that too with nonchalance and impunity. There are people who have quit the forum with excuses (for the massacre wrought on the music) that MSV's music has to be presented with a kind of "newness" that would attract the younger generation. All this to protect their own interests and to further the image of their own idols. By all means do that, but not at somebody else's cost. The "front end" artistes have recieved their due, sometimes more than they deserve too !!! Let the "behind the screen" contributions be taken note of, for a change, after all they play a mammoth role in illuminating the screen.

Let the background score for "Amadeus" be supplanted with a two bit mediocrity laden music and see what happens in the US.

Hi Vatsan,

Absolutely true. That the same treatment for a classic in the US would have attracted a penalty that the accused would pay for the rest of his generations. Here is a land of convenience, misuse, misrule and what not?? To us the only soul comforting tool is to listen to more and more of the Legend's Creations.....for we have been Blessed in enormous abundance, music by our Creator Shri. Shri. MSV that transcends barriers of the known and the unknown as well.

As a voracious listener, I really don't care or bother about what had happened to Karnan, as we all have the original versions of the DVDs of not only Karnan but many that will accompany us till our last breath.

Let the new generation (read the deprived lot) be aware atleast that Karnan minus the music would have been "Karna Koduram" to say the least.

LONG LIVE SHRI. SHRI. MSV AND HIS CREATIONS!!!

MSV IS MUSIC!!!

Dear All,

The people who wanted to attract the new generation to the Golden Classic of yesteryears deprived the chance of appreciation and enjoyment of one of the greatest music ever scored in Indian cinema to the present generation.

The only solution for atleast people of msvtimes.com would be to screen the great movie Karnan with original soundtrack in tact.

Ragasudha Sir, I have the greatest respect for you as a person. I know your sincere adoration to both Master MSV and Sivaji Ganesan. We enjoyed the action of the great giants Sivaji and NTR in the new version and people behind the new version can be very happy as every show of the film is houseful wherever it is screened. But if the original track was not changed it would have been definitely nice.

With Love

Dear ALL,
Any effort of reproducing Mona Lisa is an act of stupidity -for the effort is bound to end up in 'Lisa'' the demon and not Mona Lisa. After all, it is sheer common sense that there can only be one "KarNan music" and this what MSV has indicated to the re-makers when he suggested the improbability and withdrew from the offer. It must have been a strong enough indication to avoid the temptation of digital music scores; they have managed to score in single digits as against the multi-digit scores of the original. I think any standard orchestra could have rendered those numbers much better if claims of loss of sound tracks are true. Better still would have been to just insert songs from the quality CDs that carry the very original musical scores of MSV's legendary orchestra; Another viable option is by filling the songs from original Gramaphone records of "KarNan" available in Vadapalani Arcot road with a private person who has all TF graphite records from 1935 on wards. The person has made a huge wall display of these data as to be only beyond the scope of blind people. But, the present crop of persons behind the effort seem to be deaf to quality and blind to sentiments; lest they should not have attempted mindless insertions to musical scores. When we express honest feelings people get offended for no tangible reason. So, we need to collect as many songs before mutilated pieces parade around.
Warm regards K.Raman Madurai.
