Dear enthusiasts
A handful of Piano picks
Under the caption, several songs have been cited. But, I personally feel MSV has launched his magic very ealy 1960-61 . What comes to my memory is the song in Paasa Malar "Paattonru kettane " by Jamuna Rani. For another important reason every one of us should remember the pallavi, for it has several values.
PATTONRU KETTANE PARAVASAMAANANE
NAAN ADHAI PPAADA VILLAI.
This pallavi of Kavi Arasu is prophetic. One can literally and liberally use this [pallavi] message to most songs of MSV. Everyone of us get delighted hearing a vast majority of his compositions. Idhai kavignar Anre paadivittar. Now on to piano magic. In this song piano offers the backbone not merely as a costly instrument. [In those days use of piano was regarded a sophistication] In some songs the instrument used to make its presence felt rather by intrusion and not by lending value. From that rut MSV LIFTED THE USE OF PIANO to a healthy dimension. In this particular song the charanam is taken to various styles of rendition which we later understood as the artistry of this wizard. If someone can analyze the musical intricacies of this song it will lend valuable credence to the opinion that MSV began as giant right away.
