Hi folks

What an amazing song this is?... the song is "complete".. pallavi, anupallavi, 3 charanams.. with a lovely music score and variety to match the lyrics and beautifully sung by the MQ (Melody Quee). I am sure would figure high on many people's favorite list.. : )

There is a saying that "music is the silence between two notes".. and this song stands testimony to that saying... Creative thinking and use of the pauses

I have given a few points between the lyrics of the song... I am not very conversant with the instruments etc... but I can say that I am an ardent listener : ))

I request people here to add their "views" as well

(4 notes of guitar - with a pause between each note - followed by a symphony of

violins)

(prelude - has a touch of "Odum maegangaLae with violins, guitars, shenoy?, bells and

the MQ (Melody Queen) starts to sing the pallavi after a 4 bar pause. The pallavi

itself is set to 2 different beat patterns)

(1st interlude with a shenoy(?) leading, with rhythm guitars following up with light

drums and probably a brush, and accordian and finishing off with a tabla roll and

blending into the anupallavi - the tempo is also altered a bit IMHO)

(4 bar pause and the 2nd interlude begins continuing from where the 1st half of the

previous interlude left off and has violins to add to the richness - this time there

is no tabla roll into the charanam - just 3 notes to end the interlude and give way to

the 1st charanam)

(the 3rd interlude varies from the first two in that it does not have the shenoy(?) it

however has it towards the end of the interlude with violins leading to the 2nd

charanam)

Hi Andy,

That's a good analysis of the song. After the charanam, subsequent to the "toon toon tuta tun (in mandolin), zu zza zza zoon (in violins)", and again "toon toon tuta tun (in mandolin), zu zza zza zoon (in violins) - in a different tone", there is a wonderful Flute bit "fu fa fufu fu fu fufa fufu fufa fufu fufa (ending with a violin piece)". Hope you are able to make it out (I am just reproducing from my memory - as this song has not been heard for years - not shown in any of the channels).

Bye,
Venu Soundar
