Hello Friends,
As suggested by Mr.Ram, I am joining this forum. I am basically a Chartered Accountant but music is my life. I am fortunate to have Padmabhusan, Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri.T.N.Seshagopalan as my guru. With my little knowledge in music, let me plunge into the Sagaram Sri.M.S.Viswanathan. As suggested by Mr.Ram, I will take up a song from the music session "Rajanvin Parvai". It is gem of a song. I would even say, it is a wonder. The speciality of this song. 1. The song is composed in Natural minor (our Natabhairavi scale ) . 2. All the 12 notes of a Keyboard appear in this song!! 3. The melody "Rajavin parvai" appear in 4 diff ways as follows. a)The prelude by P.Sushila is in Em. b) The song is in Am. . c) Melody in BGM shifts to Cm and d) the melody comes back to Am with C# resulting the carnatic scale "Vaghulabharanam". Wonder of wonders. 4. The song composed in a tempo of horse beat. 5. Tabla appears for the first time only during the charanam "Asail vilaindha" by PS. Iyyo!!! What a song. When i was explaining this song to my daughter, she exclaimed with eyes turned moist "What a genius" and further asked if we could meet the great MSV sir. I told her i do not know if we could meet him. For want of space i am not getting into the details of the chords . If members want me to do that let me also share that. I pray the Almightly for his speedy recovery.
Always yours

Dear Mr Sampat,
Welcome to the Forum and glad to note that you are a "Sishya" of Sri TNS. As such, it is no surprise that you have gone in to minute details on the song like the musical scales, etc. It is nice of you to have brought to our knowledge information like all the 12 notes of a keyboard appearing in the song. Please keep it up.
Regards,
Venu Soundar |
