The songs from the film Manappandal are showpieces of MSV-TKR combo's orchestral abilities. They are melodious and yet the instrumentation is outstanding.

I am particularly fond of the P Suseela song "Ore Raagam, Ore Thalam". At the beginning, when PS sings Oreeeee Raagam, the BGM follows giving an idea of the raga of the song and when she sings oreee taalam the percussion instruments like mridamgam follow. Wonderful beginning and what follows is a very beautiful song with the flute interludes particularly soothing to the ears.

To me the MSV-TKR combine, which lasted for nearly fifteen years, was simply the golden era of TFM as during this period there were other fine composers like G Ramanathan, S V Venkatraman, K V Mahadevan, A M Raja, S M S Naidu, R Sudarsanam etc.

that certainly was the golden era ; unforgettable outstanding songs ! Many of the songs were just awesome. Kudos to all those MDs.
