Dear Mr.Vaidy,
I totally endorse your emotions on "Sorgam Pakkaththil"and "kaNdEn PeN pOndra mEgam", for their tunes and breathtaking orchestration. 'Melody or musical mesmerism starts with MSV and stays with him' ,for most others it does not make even a cognizable beginning.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Warm regards K.Raman Madurai. _________________ Prof. K. Raman

Dear Mr Baskar,
MSV has not used Accordion in நினைத்ததை நடத்தியே முடிப்பவன் நான். There are hundreds of songs where MSV has used the Accordion in a mesmerising manner. I would like to present here two great songs where MSV has made awesome usage of the Accordion. One is இது வேறுலகம் தனி உலகம் from நிச்சய தாம்பூலம். In this song, the gentleman playing the Accordion is none other than Mr Mangalamoorthy, who was the accordionist in MSV's troupe:

The other one is பாவை பாவைதான் ஆசை ஆசைதான் from எங்க மாமா. Please listen to the accordion piece before the second charanam:

Please listen and enjoy.

Dear All,
Yet another duo of scintillating melodies in which accordion plays havoc!!!
Yaarumillai Ingey Sugam Sugam ithu thinam thinam vandhu tharum tharum (I am very sure the lyricist wrote only once these words in the song and I am more sure that MSV would have doubled it to render a perfect completion to the song....what a genius he is!!!!). Listen to the accordion making it's omnipresence throughout the song.
Unnai Thaney yey Unnai Thaney Yey....from Parakkum Paavai. What a haunting accordion prelude???
Over to you Ragasudha for uploading these for the sheer listening pleasure of our forum members.

Please listen to the opening music of குமரிப் பெண்ணின் உள்ளத்திலே from எங்க வீட்டுப் பிள்ளை. The action of MGR says it all - "ஆஹா என்ன ஒரு accordion, சும்மா பிச்சு ஒதரிட்டாருய்யா", என்று சொல்வதுபோல் இருக்கிறது அவர் action:

Dear All,
Ever since Ragasudha began the exclusive thread of instruments usage by our Legend, my involvement in HIS music has become more by listening to certain songs repeatedly.
One such gorgeous tune is "Pakkathu Veetu Paruva Machan".....What accordion prelude & interludes when the accordion breaks from its path and there appears the introduction of sitar overlapped by a volley of flute....
Who on earth can captivate a listener & make him an addict for life to HIS music except this giant of a Creator Shri. Shri. MSV!!! Kudos to all the musicians, Kannadasan / Valee, P. Suseela for her stupendous rendering and the biggest credit ought to be accorded to our Master for having composed such a brilliant tune that will live forever in our hearts....
KUDOS TO MSV!!!

Dear Mr. Vaidy,
While every part of what you have said of 'pakkaththu veettu paruva machan' is true, my feeling is MSV has embellished the song with things that ordinary minds can never imagine. Look at that extra bonanza of KUIL'S CALL in a song that is rich and robust by orchestration. Also, PS's [not to forget MSV of course] caressing delivery at specific spots
'mAnthOppil vazhi marichu mayakkatthayE vara vazhaichAn'
'....... veLLamillai vidiyum varai kadhai padichchAn'
As she renders 'mayakkaththayE', her voice dips to a timbre apt to drive the emotion
and vidiyum varai kadhaipadichchan ' for the final assault rivets the song to the listener inseparably for long.
MSV, as we all know is never contented to just use one magic at a time. He splashes them in multiple without destroying harmony or dislocating the seamless blend of voice and orchestral pieces. Simply, He is a musical genius to say the least.

Dear Prof. Raman,
Oorellam thoongividum ullam mattum urangathu.......listen to the unleashing of volins after this that will take you to a different world.....followed by osaiyellam adangividum aasai mattum adangathu.....followed by a defeaning pause in the form of a silence.....that conveys 1000's of meanings......what else can this be but a pinnacle of imagination for a man who's synonym is spontaneity mixed with variety, that can remain unchallenged till this world remains.
what a presence of mind for this musical wonder of this millennium!!! Truely a touch of class, unmatched creativity!!!

Dear Mr.Vaidy,
Nice to recall what you have said of
'Aasai mattum adangadhu' and the meaningful pause that MSV inserts with exceptional alacrity in a lyric frame.. OK, then what of that brisk post-pause rendering
'Aasai mattum adangAmal avanai matttum parththirundhEn' and swift move over to Pallavi.
As you have pin pointed, MSV is a phenomenon. Besides giving the utmost value to clarity, pronunciation and orchestration that is created to blend with the lyrical phrase and mood, his supremacy stands out by the way he commands silence, pause or pace through a lyric segment all in a natural ensemble suggesting a Divine Grace with his pieces. He is not someone whose approach to an issue is predictable except that he would deliver the best. We are all more than blessed to have been born in the glorious period of TFM and somewhat cursed to live through the decadence.
Thanks for the opportunity.

Dear Ragasudha,
Does Kadhalikkak katruk koLLungaL' has the use of accordion? I am not sure whether the instrument is used is accordion or something else. _________________ P Rengaswami (9381409380)
