Dear Friends,
Though apparently a simple insertion, MSV's import of ha ha hohho as non-lyrical frames, carries a stupendous effect in elevating the mood. Not necessarily ho ho / haha is for romantic exuberance.
Let us lok at the two items that follow.
'nee enbadhenna?' from "veNNira Adai- LRE is an instance where at the closure of pallavi,
hohha hohha ho ho ho and a pathos through
hO hO hO cause the right mood shift to CharaNam frames to highlight the status of a mentally disturbed girl in her teens suggesting gay abandon of sorts.
This really boosts up the mood heavier than the lyric.
'yenakku vandha indha mayakkam unakkum vara vEndum' "nee"- LR E
The song is quite a different situation where the character is an inebriated dancer trying to entice the onlookers in a bar of star hotel.
Here too, the closing phase of pallavi is pepped by non-lyrical sarcasm by
hohha ha hohhO,hohha ha hohhO sung to seductive octave that infuses a sense of thrill and suspense where the song spells out a warning
'don't touch' sh sh and such other cautions.
It is a marvellous treatment of mood.
MSV always transforms self to the exact mood and mode for composition.
