Dear Friends,
Talking of KD-MSV mesmerism, the song 'manam kanivAna andha kanniyai kaNdAl' from "idhu sathyam" deserves the richest accolades, considering the musical value and lyric value to a nearly non-descript actor pair Chandrakantha -Asokan way back in 1962-63.

The song has some excellent phraseology rich in suggestive romance. KD has chosen to employ choice-expressions as a true lyricist. Also KD has not given tell-tale responses to the female except perhaps an inquisitive probe as "ivaL avaL thAna, avaL ivaL thAnA adhai theLivoi sollalAma, theLivoi sollalAma"

another sweet spot in the song
'annam endra nadaiyinaikkaNdu, mannar thammai marandhdhaum undu, repeated again.
Whenever the male description eulogizes the girl , the 'enjoying' lady character concurs
"mm mm hmm hm" . Obviously it is not a part of the lyrical phrase and MSV[TKR] have added a pep with those polite interjects.
What stands supreme about this number has been its magnificence in melody and an equally flamboyant orchestration.
Throughout the song TMS has a dominant role which is substantially elevated by the supportive singing of PS
In all such romantic pieces MSV used to insert a signature by way of the closing humming.
Instead of the la la la, he has used ah ha ha huhh huhh ha. In fact all word play in the song require special appreciation. Hopefully one day I would do it.

Warm regards K.Raman Madurai.
