Let's listen to a fast and very pleasing number என் வாழ்வில் புதுப் பாதை கண்டேன் from தங்கப் பதுமை. Look at the lightning speed Violins in the song. It is simply remarkable, considering the fact that it was composed in the 1950s. What a composer?

Please listen to another excellent and fast number அழகே அமுதே from the film ராஜா மலயசிம்ஹன். பாடலின் வரிகளுக்கேற்ப, இந்தப் பாடல் அழகு மட்டுமல்லாமல் அமுதும் கூட:

Let's listen to another lovely and melodious number composed by our Master - பன்சாங்கம் பார்த்துச் சொல்லவா from சீர்வரிசை, superbly rendered by SPB (again for Muthuraman) and PS:

Today is "MGR நினைவு நாள்". On this day, let's listen to a wonderful number superbly composed by our Master. The song is ஒருவர் ஒருவராய்ப் பிறந்தோம் from the MGR movie பணத்தோட்டம், sung by TMS & LRE. Look at the amazing orchestration with almost 2 mts music before the start of the actual song and MSV has used His full compliment of orchestra:

Yesterday being Christmas Day, I wanted to post two beautiful numbers from the film புனித அந்தோணியார், but I encountered problems in accessing the Forum. Anyway, let me present them today.

The first one is மண்ணுலகில் இன்று தேவன் இறங்கி வருகிறான், superbly sung by Vani Jayaram. Look at the very long and wonderful தொகையறா in this song:

The second one is a hardly heard song துள்ளி வரும் மீன்களே sung by TMS:

Its time to listen to one of the top-of-the-chart numbers, simply amazingly composed by MSV for the movie வெண்ணிற ஆடை. The song is நீராடும் கண்கள் இங்கே wonderfully sung my P.Suseela. It is unfortunate that the song was excluded from the movie, but by hearing it one can easily make out that it was composed for a touching situation. Listen to the line நீ வந்த பின்னே நிம்மதி ஏது.. Oh, no words to praise this awesome composition. Even if you hear it a hundred times at a stretch, you will still be inclined to hear it again. What an incredible song?

Long live MSV and His mesmerizing music.

Dear Mr. Venu and friends
Harsh and queer are the ways of movie makers.
At times, excellent songs fall to the dictate of time-frame and one such victim is "neerAdum kaNgaL ingE" of 'veNNira Aadai' of Sridhar.

Certainly it was a majestic piece by MSV with his usual robust orchestration intricately spun using some very dexterous handling of a variety of Guitars, Drum and the proverbial bongo of MSV.
There used to be a clamour to play this song by music troupes in colleges.

Quite a captivating tune, orchestration and soulful singing by PS, True.
But, it is proper to acknowledge the prowess of KaNNadAsan - the lyricist who has squeezed the screen play in just 2 spots across the song.

'kAraNathhOdE nAn siriththEnO, kAraNaththOdE nAn azhudhEnO'
unnaikkaNda pOdhu uNarvugaL yEdhu [SUGGESTING MENTAL TRAUMA OF THE GIRL] then following that of course,
'nee vandha pinnE nimmadhi yEdhu' [suggests her new found leaning to a man] and
on top of it all, Kavignar takes the mood of the girl to the zenith of defeat when he says
'kanavugaL ellAm nEE vaLarthAyE
'Kaiyil varAmal kalaiththu vittAyE'.

As PS repeats the 2nd part of this couplet, MSV has pumped a huge weight in 'varAmal' by drawing it a bit longer and rapidly taking it through 'kalaiththuvittAyE' implying unbearable dejection of the heroine.

These two spots in the song precisely narrate the heroine's plight through her mental status across the entire film. It is a moot point as to who scores over whom between KaviArasu[KD] and Sevi Arasu [MSV].

Thanks for the opportunity.

Warm Regards K.Raman Madurai.

Dear friends,
Regarding 'Panchangam paarthu sollavo' by SPB and PS: I was under the impression that the song was composed by Shankar-Ganesh!

Dear Mr Sai Saravanan,

பன்சாங்கம் பார்த்துச் சொல்லவா is from the movie சீர்வரிசை for which MSV scored the music. The other super hit song from this movie is கண்ணனை நினைக்காத நாளில்லையே, again sung by PS & SPB. Let's listen and enjoy:

Let's listen to a soothing and melodious number அகரம் தமிழுக்குச் சிகரம் from the movie இரு துருவம். Look at MSV's choice of singer. No other voice would have suited this song better than that of சீர்காழி கோவிந்தராஜன். When you close your eyes and just listen to this song, you feel like having a smooth horse ride. The interlude music is simply superb:

Please listen to an awesome composition of our Master. The song is ஆட்டம் ஆட்டம் from the movie பாகப்பிரிவினை sung by A.L.Ragavan, Jamuna Rani & Chorus. It is a lengthy song of 6 mts & 36 seconds. Listen particularly the second half starting from வெற்றி எங்கள் கையிலே வெள்ளிப் பணம் பையிலே. Look at the usage of Trumpets, Trambones and Cello. Its simply amazing that such an orchestration was done by MSV 55 years ago. Incredible and hats off to the King of Light Music:

Wishing all our friends and MSV fans a very Happy Pongal. Being the festival of harvest, let's listen to a wonderful melody related to harvest - ஆரோடும் மண்ணில் எங்கும் நீரோடும் from the film பழனி. What a compositioin? தென்றல் வந்து நாம் மேனியைத் தழுவுவது போன்றதொரு பாடல். Please watch, listen and enjoy:

Dear Friends,
While recalling the melody of 'aarOdum maNNil endrum neerOdum', in addition to the melody systematically sustained through all voices, what mesmerises the flow is the play of percussion and flute which together bring forth the breeze that we feel while listening this number. These two instruments serve a native flavour to a level far superior to some claims made of certain later numbers in TFM.

Warm regards K.Raman Madurai.
