SRS,
A good topic ! Tks.
Pls also add Aadaikatti vandha nilavo , the first interlude full of accordion at jet speed . P.Susheela and TRM singing in different octaves at the end of the song is something unprecedented then !
Naan andri yaar varuvaar , is a masterpiece , a pleasant surprise from MSV-TKR . TRM actually starts with a low tone ( uncharacteristic of TRM ! ) but you will hear him in full throat on high pitch during charanam ! I believe, this song was rejected by MGR while recording for Mannadhi Mannan and was replaced by Kanmoodum velayilum kalai ! Kavignar was very particular and finally chose his home production to bring this song .
TRM is gift to tamil cinema music. A golden voice , so melodious ! I wish this great singer could have equally focussed on carnatic music . |

In naanandri yaar varuvaar, the anupallavi (if that is what it is) of APK starts with 'Enillai?' Though I am not aware of the rules of Carnatic music, it appears to me to be an unexpected, stunning yet highly delightful deviation. I have always enjoyed this 'eduppu' by APK. i wil be happy if someone well versed in music can elaborate on this immensely pleasing construction.
Aadai katti vantha nilave was earlier discussed in our forum, though in a limited way (due to the limited knowledge of the author!)

Probably, there have been other discussions earlier but I was not able to trace them by searching. _________________ P Rengaswami (9381409380)
