Mandolin Raju was the chief guest in one of the episodes of "Ennodu pAttu pAdungal" by SPB in JAYA TV last month. SPB paid great tributes to this great man and seeked his blessings by touching his feet. Mandolin Raju shared some of his memories in that program. Though aged, he looked healthy. Having seen him a few weeks ago in TV, it was sad indeed to know about his death.
I think He is the Raju who sings that master piece for M.R.Radha - "maamaa maapLE!" in the song "neeyE unakku enRum nigaraanavan" in Bale paandiya- great comedy work by Nadigar thilagam and M.R.Radha and all those immortal songs by Mellisai mannargal!
Our Mellisai mannar in all his stage appearances used to mention that all his creations are a great team effort. Humility personified! Our humble master will never accepet the credits to him alone. In the interviews, MSV fondly mentions the name of Mandolin Raju. One great personality of this great team is not with us any more.
thamizh uLlavarai, isai uLLavarai, mellisai mannarin padaippugalil kalanthu vitta Raju rasigaragaLudan isaiyaay kalanthu oliththuk koNdiruppaar enbathuthaan uNmai.
Dear Mr.Vaidhy, convey my deep condolences to his family. May His soul rest in peace. |

The sudden demise of the great "Mandolin" Raju is a big shock to all rasikaas like us, who have been enjoying his performance in each of one the songs he had played !!
I still remember the childlike-joy in his face when he was listening to MSV's song and backgroud scores we were playing during the MSVTIMES inaugural function.
God gave us a timely opportunity to recognise him and the fellow-musicians of MSV's troupe that day ! It was a great honour for all of us to honour great people like "Mandalin Raju' and see his joy !!
My heart-felt condolenses to the family !
May the Almighty give MSV enough courage to digest this shocking news !

Dear Sathyakabali, Ramki & NVS,
As you have all pointed out, it is an irreplacesable loss for the entire Music World and particularly MSV. Late Shri. Raju's association with our Legend runs into almost 3 decades during which time they have joined together and given some of the best ever Santoor / Mandolin / Voice / Whistle combinations that will ever be immortal. In fact the entire crew of MSVTIMES.COM were really Blessed by the mere presence of Shri. Raju during the launch of this website which we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Thank you all for your messages.
MSVTIMES.COM SALUTES THIS MASTER OF A TRUE CLASS.
