Thanks for the link.
I have a doubt whether MSV alone or MSV-TKR is the music director for this movie.

Also can anyone tell me who is the composer for the telugu version.
Only the first line is like Maname Muruganin... Charanam is different.

In the tamil version there is no charanam. The song has got only 4 lines.
Then Swarams and Veenai do the rest...
What a classy number from our MM.

Venkat, your doubt cleared after a year, it is indeed and in deed MSV only Smile

Set to Hindolam but the entity that identified the raga recedes into the background and melts into the fine feelings imbued by the Master Creator in each line. Since the song has been tuned for pre-written lyrics, MSV caressingly empowers each line with apt feelings and thus imparts the soul sparkle. Start from the first line and you have the compellingly persuasive tune that announces that the mind is indeed the vehicle of transport for Lord Muruga. I am sure Kothhamangalam Subbu's inner self nodded in affirmation more emphatically than it did when that very line was penned. This is followed by the solemn observation that the body is the cave of a temple that houses the spirit of the entity that rides on your mind. How else could a sensitive soul express the fact that the voice is an expression of the Thirechendur temple bell, other than through a tune carving out an insistent crescendo ? A piety filled commitment borne out of sheer love for the deity concedes "en guhanE shamnuganE endrolikkum ini", rather, the tune expresses so better than the words. The tunesmith here, decided not to render the touch of completion, consummation to the entire body of melody here, ONLY to let that very feeling linger. But when the time to end melody does arrive, the very same line is put through with a smattering of curves at the word "ini" playing well within the feeling put through initially, but with a well grounded, excitement free re-affirmation. Oneness with Lord Muruga is the true import of the beautiful lyrics, signifying that the process of thinking/ mind work, the entire body and the voice that expresses, are all various aspects of the beautiful Deity . The music enshrouding the lyric well and truly lulls your mundane self into serenity allowing the much oppressed soul to re-surface, making oneness with the soul, a reality. This miracle of a song, being short lived, first soaks with soul with divinity, leaves the soul missing it and eventually makes it crave for more. This is no greed, but the natural longing to re-experience what was the soul's birthright. A hundred charanams for the same song wouldn't have satiated the longing !!!

THanks for this opportunity.

Dear Mr. Raghavendran,
You have not cleared Mahesh's doubt on the Telugu version. Only you can answer this question.

Dear Mr Raghavendran,

One small correction. Lyrics of Kathirundha Kangale were by Vali, not Kothamangalam Subbu.

Dear Srinivasan,
Thank you for pointing out the error. It is valee and not Subbu for the song Kathirunda Kangale.
The telugu version of the song features in the film "Manchi Kutumbam". Music composed by S.P. Kothandapani,
Cast :- Krishna,Kanchana,Geetanjali,Vijaya Nirmala
Director :- Madhusudan Rao V
Music :- SP Kodandapani
Year :- 1968

There is a reason for my so quickly pointing out that the lyricist of Kathirunda Kangale was Vali. This song has one of the most beautiful lines I have come across in any language - Tamil, Hindi or English. I mean "Iru kaigalinale mugam maraithale vaiyagam irundathenna?" That is, the nayagan says the entire world is enveloped in darkness when his sweetheart covers her face with her hands! What a wonderful image! What imagination! Hats off to Vali!

Thanks for clearing my doubt regarding the Telugu version.
Recently I read in Hindu that Chittibabu has played the Veena part in that song. Great. Really a master piece by our MM.

The song 'Kaathirunda kangale' is exquisitely tuned. Every stanza amazingly starts afresh in a completely different manner. So brisk, so lively, and only MM could have imagined in this manner! Look at the voice types of PBS and PS for this song. Good execution! Golden number!

Regarding the song 'Maname'. Was it sung by only Jayalakshmi or with Radha too? Were there other songs by them, together or alone?
