This was the peak period for TFM seeing many music directors - KVM, Shankar Ganesh, Veda, VKumar, Ramesh Naidu, Vijaya Bhaskar, Rajan Nagendra, Dharapuram Sundarrajan, and the list is endless. Every body came every body composed every body gave hit songs, and many of them still lingering in our ears. And Mellisai Mannar was solitarily riding high amidst all these and the emergence of Ilaiyaraaja, increased the fan strength in MSV. And during this period the songs composed by Mellisai Mannar reached new scales and class.
Here is the sample:
Song: Vizhiyo Urangavillai
Film: Nee Vaazha Vendum
Singers: SPB Vani Jayaram

Dear Sivakumar,
Yes, it was from the film Oru Varisu Uruvagiradhu directed by Mouli. Mouli used to use Shyam for his movies but this film was a real classic. Particularly this song is my all time favourites and I have listened almost 1000 times this one and still it is fresh.
Now the next in 70s is from ANBAI THEDI. Anbai Thedi had four songs and of the four two are duets with TMS - one Jayalalitha (Chithira Mandapathil) and the other the present one - Butthi ketta ponnu onnu . INDHA PAATTAI KETTU KONDE IRUKKALAM ... But poor imagination by the Director -- He put lungi in this duet - I think this would have been the only duet song where hero wears a lungi in beautiful locations. What a song and what a poor picturisation. This director has wasted the creativity of MM, talents of Sivaji-Jayalalitha and most of all the audience.

Dear Mr.Raghavendran,
Many thanks for your links to some of the best, but not often-heard songs of MSV.
There is a beautiful song, from a film in the early 70's.
இறைவனுக்கும் பாட்டெழுதும் ஆசை வந்தது
அவன் எழுதி வைத்த பாடல் அது பெண்மை என்பது
sung by TMS.
I don't remember the name of the film. Perhaps ஓடும் நதி. But I am not sure. But this film was released around that time.
I am sure you will remember this song and the film. Pl send the link, if possible. _________________ P Rengaswami (9381409380)
