Dear Freinds,
We are discussing about the women's reservation bill. I found a very rare feet happened in the movie 'Karpagam' where there was 100% reservation for the female singer P Suseela who sung 4 songs and there was no male singer in that movie.

The songs are
1)mannavane azhalaama
2)athai madi methaiyadi
3)pakathu veetu paruva machaan
4)aayiram iravugal varuvadundu

Another information is that Kavinger Vaali who penned the songs for MSV's composition for the second time after getting long break after 'Idayathil Nee' got regular recognition after this movie.

One more great information. Only after this movie our great composer got the award 'Mellisai Mannargal'.

So support women's reservation bill. You will get fame and awards.

Regards,

Dear Murali,
Your posting reads interesting reading. Actually there was a duet recorded for Muthuraman and Sheela in the film Karpagam, sung by A.L. Raghavan and L.R. Easwari. The song was also picturised with them and at the last moment the song was dropped since the director felt, it affected the phase of the movie. I shall try to point out the pallavi and if possible, the full lyrics. Had that song was included, then the question of reservation might not have arose!!!

Dear Ragasuda,
I expected there could have been an attempt to have a duet song. But as you said they have found that was not required. How could you have a duest in a movie where the husband lost his wife and not reconciled to accomodate the new arrival. That decision not to have a duet is a powerful decision taken by the team.

But as I was studying this only female singer song in a movie today I got a shocker when I found in another movie. The movie is 'Athai Magal' in which LRE was the only singer in the movie and she sung 4 songs.

1) Athri baachaa kozhukkattai
2)Maaligayil maan kuttiyin thirunaalam
3)Sokaiyaa nee sokaiyaa
4)Pandikku mundi kollum

Is there anyother songs in that movie? If that is not the case then this qualifies for the oppsite of what I posted yesterday. None of these songs have been in my memory and I fel this is the case for the general MSV fans.

However I still support Women's reservation in the parliament but we have to elect the right women.

Dear Murali,
Athai Magal had two female singers - (i) L.R. Easwari and (ii) Maathuri (remember Vaanamenum Veedhiyile). This film was released at Shanthi Theatre, Chennai where I saw it in the first week. There is one song which immediately sat on my memory - Maaligaiyil Maankuttiyin Thirunaalam thirunaalaam - superb beat, scintillating voice by L.R. Easwari and chorus. The film was released in late sixties (either 1968 or 1969) if I remember correct. Of course there is only female voice in that film. But this song was not only catchy but also made us hum at once. But the film did not fare well at the box office (commercially it was successful but did not cross 100 days), since Jai Shankar movies were released at frequent intervals. This film had the lead pair in Jai Shankar and Vanishri. I do not remember the other songs, but having them in old cassette. If possible, I shall try to retrieve and post them.

Raghavendran.

Dear Raghavendran,

If you could arrange for conversion of all these rare numbers of MSV, which you possess into a DVD, it will be wonderful. We will arrange to post them in our site for the future generations to listen and enjoy.

Otherwise it will all go unnoticed !!!!!

Pl speak to me on how this could be done.

RAMKI

Dear MR. Ramki,
This is one aspect which we should do it on top priority. I am in the process of feeding in the computer the list of songs year moviewise of MSV/TKR/IR from the book of Sri Vamanan. I will finish this within a week. Once the list is ready we can sort the same in alphabateical order. Based on the order we must try to get all the songs from who ever posses the songs and create the list of songs in our site.

I am also in the process of collecting songs of MSV. We must form a team who can work on this.

Regards,

Dear Murali Sir and Ramki Sir,
Thank you for the kind suggestions. Before proceeding it would be nice if an informal or formal meeting is arranged so that we can discuss in person and find out the modalities. There are some corrections in the book by Vaamanan and I have noted them separately. Before uploading the data let us verify and make it update. In this context we MUST seek the cooperation of SABESAN who is an authority on MSV. We have collected quite a number of original song books and I am uploading every filmography on verification, of course there are umpteen chances for human errors. I do not deny it. So we shall form a team at the top most priority and then meet and discuss. I am at your disposal and shall call any time you need.
