This is a Telugu version of Tenali Raman. The Tamil song was also sung by Ghantasala for Sivaji Ganesan. In Tamil it will be Ullasam Thedum Ellorum Or Naal Sollaamal Povar Allavidam. Both versions were composed by Viswanathan - Ramamurthi.

Dear Mr. Venu,
Vaa vennilaa of 'Mellath thirandhadhu kadhavu' was based on the tune of 'vaan meedhile.' I understand that the suggestion came from Ilayaraaja and MSV immediately improvised the tune for vaa vennilaa.

அன்புள்ள ராகவேந்தர்,

ஞான ஒளி படத்தில் இப்படி ஒரு பாடல் இருக்கிறது என்று கேள்விபட்டதே இல்லை. ஊட்டி வரை உறவு படத்தில் 'யாரோடும் பேசக் கூடாது', வெண்ணிற ஆடை படத்தில் 'நீராடும் கண்கள்' இது போல படத்தில் இடம் பெறாத பாடல்களை எல்லாம் கேட்டிருக்கிறேன். ஆனால் இந்த பாடலை ஒரு முறை கூட கேட்டதில்லை. இவ்வளவு அருமையான பாடல்களை எல்லாம் கேட்க சந்தர்ப்பம் கொடுத்ததற்கு மிக்க நன்றி.

Apart from the Tamil and telugu versions of "Vaan meethile..." in Chandi Rani, our MM has not only composed the Hindi version of this song, but gave the starting lyrics in Hindi too (Chanda tale...), to the great surprise and appreciation of Bhanumati and the actual Hindi lyricist. It was a divine flow!

This film starred Silk Smitha and Bhanuchandar in the lead. Produced by MSV and directed by his son Gopikrishna. An entirely different scale and meter and unique only to Mellisai Mannar. Listen to the orchestration and bgm of the song, varying in talas typical to Mellisai Mannar. This song was hardly played in the radio and I heard it in Ceylon Radio once or twice. This is one of those rare and ill fated songs which should have had more reach, though it was a super hit song during its release. The lyrics of this song glorify the great King Maker K. Kamaraj, with Kannadasan in full form and Nadigar Thilagam doing full justice and giving life to it. And the rhythm MM uses in this song is unique to him.
