Dear friends,
I was often getting a strange, but ironical feeling whenever I listened to one of Talat Mahmood's songs. The song, I discovered recently, belonged to a film called 'Woh din yaad karo' of the early seventies, which was set to music by L-P. The song starts as 'Mohabbat ki kahaaniyaan, sunaane lagi hai jawaaniyaan', written by lyricist Anand Bakshi!! One has to literally roll back the times to the early fifties when our MM composed Chandi Rani with a similar sounding set of 'dummy' lines 'Chanda tale muskurayen jawaaniyaan, hothon pe aagayee dil ki kahaaniyaan,' obviously resented by Bhanumathi, but lapped up by the lyricist! To think of such a latter day lyrics like 'Mohabbat ki kahaaniyaan, sunaane lagi hai jawaaniyaan,' it is but ironical that big time lyricists have taken inspiration from MM's 'Dummy' lines.....??
Please listen to the song, and you will feel the leaning of this seventies' song on MM's lines and, obviously, tune itself (the dholak gives us the immediate feel!)!!
MM, as a 'lyricist,' is equally at home among the greats, the learned and the poets!!
Thanks,
Sai saravanan

Pattukkoottai Kalyanasundaram had written a song, 'en kaNNaik kELu sollum. athi kaathal mInkaL thuLLum' for the film Paasavalai. Music was also composed. But the producer TR Sundaram had rejected the song and wanted a song with simple lyrics in keeping with the fact that the actress was a new face. Pattukkottai was upset. MSV suggested to him, 'Write something like 'machchaan onnaip paaththu mayangiponEn nEththu.' Pattukkottai readily accepted this suggestion and wrote the lyrics. MSV had added the words loL loL loL loL before the pallavi. The song became popular! The actress who acted for this song came to be known as LoL loL Rajamani.

Let us hear this ifrom MSV himslf.

Incidentally, I have a suggestion to Vk and others who have some contact with Mega TV and Kalaignar TV

Sun TV has been uploading its serials in Youtube. We can request Mega TV to upload the episodes of Endrum MSV in Youtube so that this will be available for anyone to watch for all time to come. Mega TV will also get some advertising revenue that is shared by Youtube with the uploaders.

It will be a cumbersome task. But even if Mega TV can upload one episode per day by asking one of its staff members to spend half an hour per day, the task can be completed in a couple of years. It may not be much but will at least justify the effort.

If they do this, we can post the links of some interesting episodes featuring CVR, ALR, SPM etc. and those in which MSV reveals something interesting in our website.

In the same way, we can request Kalaignar TV to upload the part of Paada Vaa Duet Paadalai in which MSV composed the music to lyrics on the spot.
