Dear Friends,
There is another Raga Maliga composed by MM in the same movie ‘Aboorva Ragangal’ which is the song ‘Kelviyin Nayagane’

The pallvai is tuned in the raga ‘Kanada’
The first charanam “Pasuvidam Kandru’ is also tuned in the raga ‘Kanada’.
The second charanam ‘Thalaivan Thriuchanoor Vandhu Vittan’ is also in the same raga.
The third charanam ‘Oru Kannum maru kannum paarthu kondal’ is in the raga ‘Hamsanadham’. The tempo of the third charanam is very fast. I read in the music book about ragas where in it is mentioned that the raga ‘Hamsanadham’ gives a feeling of speed. It is mentioned as ‘Viru viruppai tharugindra ragam’. MM has understood the specialty of this raga and used it in fast tempo.

The final charnam ‘pazhani malayil ulla vel muruga’ is in the raga ‘madhyamavadhi’. Normally we all know that ‘Madyamavadhi’ raga is rendered at the end of the kutcheri. In the music book about the raga the reason for that has been mentioned. It has been mentioned that in the kutcheri the singer is forced to sing many ragas which are not appropriate for that time. For instance a raga is suitable for the morning time where as the singer is singing in the evening time. Because of that the singer gets a ‘Dhosam’. By rendering the raga ‘Madhyamavadhi’ the ‘dhosha’ is removed. That is how the practice of singing the raga ‘Madhyamavathi’ happened in the kutcheri.

But here in this movie situation MM would have used this raga as it is the last charanam in that song and he ensures that the pallavi is not repeated.

The beauty of this song is that each charanam deals with the different character and gives the climax of the movie.
