Dear creators of this site.
Let me congratulate you and thank you for this site as it gives me a platform to express my views although I am not a professional musicain.
I am sure many feel the same way too.
One of the differences in presentation which made Maestro MSV unique was that he used chord progressions of the types seen in western music without sacrificing the grammar of Carnatic ragas, and Tamil prosody.
One such song which impressed me and has many mesmerised by it ,even today ,is Mayakkama Kalakamma. The song starts off with minor and modulates to the relative Major. However when the line is repeated the same line is accompanied in major and reverts to minor. I have never come across this in any music except in a few bars of a song by a band [.American Jazz].Seen in a cd on vintage collections which was not available in India till recently.
I t is therefore not wrong in saying that declaring MSV as a GENIUS is a Gross understatement.
