Dear friends,
My reference to "Marvel" is neither formal nor ritualistic to substantiate my total appreciation for the movie. Why it is a marvel? In trying to understand the intricacy there of , we may have to look at fine points that which make the movie absolutely acceptable. To drive home this point , I intend touching upon spots that render credibility to the treatment of the subjec [Direction]t.
As Muthuraman leaves the house, he borrows the big car from his daddy only to oblige his friend's request. On reaching Chinnamalai , the two friends plan the strategies of drama to convince the rich man of their aristocracy.
Unexpectedly Muthuraman's father too drops in to Chinnamalai on another mission. But,the father does not recognize his son as the latter is is disguise though they come face to face. The father , seeing the car goes around and watches its registration number and realises it is his own and says so. But Muthuraman, undaunted, right away tells that the moment he reached Coimbatore, he was in need of a CAR and he managed this car through an agent by issuing a single cheque for Rs 33000/-[ as against his father's desire of pushing it off at 25000/-] At this bravdo, the father does not have points to raise against Muthuraman.
On a subsequent telephonic conversation to his father at Madras , regarding his inability to join the parents, Muthuraman cleverly adds the message of selling the car saying"Appa numba periya vandikku nalla vilai vandhadhu, maela 8 Roova vechu thaLLi vittuttaen". Now the father is twice certain and convinced of the son's straightforward character. It provides link to minor events too.
In a movie like K N where everything looks free for all , enormous care has been taken to link every minute detail without scope for any greater desirability.
In K N, one can see free use of English words. But, when Ravichandran's father[ a school teacher] is met by VSR in the house of the latter, the school teacher recalls that VSR had presided over an "Aandu vizha" of the school in the past. It is a careful arrangement of dialogue, as primary school teachers normally confine to vernacular.
[A sensible handling].
In every frame, CVS has effectively assembled the right sequences of developing the story through dialogues, making us watch the movie in rapt attention -not to miss anything. I feel that enormous care has been bestowed on every incident to carefully knot it and untie it at appropriate spots, instead of imagining that the audience would forget it.
Likewise Kanchana's acceptance of VSR's son after her earlier protests has also been brilliantly handled and the innocuous Balaiah ascribes it to the power of rich man's words.
Not a moment of sag is known in K N as things take a delightfully swift pace. Further CVS has planted each song at the most appropriate locale deriving the best benefit to all. "SRIDHAR does it again" was a caption for an article on K N in the Illustrated Weekly of India [in April 1964] a widely read and respected journal. I think the caption did the right pride to CVS, [To Continue]
