There have been a few films in which Kannadasan has written most of the songs, with one solitary song written by Vaallee. In many cases, of course, the M.D. was MSV. The thing is, the one song of Vaallee also used to become a super hit. Offhand, I can recollect the following songs:

1. Avalukenna azhagiya mugam (Server Sundaram)
2. Naan Thananthani Kaatu Raja (Enga Mama)
3. Ore Aayiram Paarvaiyilae (Vallavanukku Vallavan - music by Veda)

Some interesting info about Server Sundaram - obtained from Vaallee's autobiography which appeared in a fortnightly magazine called "Pudhiya Paarvai" a few years back: Kannadasan had written all the songs for Server Sundaram and then went out of town. One evening, says Vaallee, he was relaxing in his room with a bottle ("Apozhuthellam vaelai illadha nerathil naan bottleum kaiyumaga iruppen"). A car suddenly appeared and a production assistant said MSV wanted to see Vaallee urgently. The thing is, they wanted a song to be written urgently for Server Sundaram and it had to be recorded immediately. That was how "Avalukenna Azhagiya Mugam" came to be written - when Vaallee was not fully sober!

Can fellow-MSVians contribute similar anecdotes and examples of films with a solitary song by Vaallee?

Dear Mr.SVS,
The entire songs of AnbeVaa is by Vaalee only. All are gems.

In the movie, "Nenjirukkum Varai", the onlu song by Vaalee is "Nenjirukum engalukum naalai...". Who can forget this song.

Kaatru Vaanga ponen oru... padal composing mudinthavudan, MSV avargal Vaalee-ku than kaiyiliruntha Modhirathai kodutharam.

Ippadi sollikonde pogalam

Dear Friends,
It draws my attention to share with you my memory that Valee had started working with MSV from the days of Deivaththai and before[1961]
Whole movie hits for a non-MGR starrer for Valee began with KARPAGAM with MSV -TKR as MDs [1962-63]. Infact as between MGR and Sivaji , MSV was amicably blending with Kannadasan and Valee. Also these creators worked in perfect harmony for various movie banners, Directors and actors who had their own socio-political identities. That these people came out free of any bias is eloquant proof their dedication to the task on hand while being impeccably honest to the master on each occasion. That has made them the legends in a truly competitive ambience.
Warm Regards Prof.K.Raman Madurai
