Hallo MSV fans,
AVM film VEERA THIRUMAGAN a block buster made in 1960s had great music from MSV-Ramamurthy. Many songs were hit in this film..
One particular " Padatha Pattu ellam pada vandhai" by PB Srinivas was unique. Normally in every film song there is a prelude with music played from instruments played between stanzas. In this song after second stanza there is only a humming (by LR Eswari and soon the humming ends, song rendering continues). No Music director even in Hindi had attempted this style.
What an innovation and what an idea. Listening to this song even today brings freshness and it recalls what an era of music was in 1960s. .

Dear Mr.Raghavan,
A nice observation. That was indeed a lovely song with female humming. I think this humming is by S.Janaki.
There are several beautiful numbers by our EMPEROR with female humming:
Vellikinnamthan - PS
Kallellam maanika - LRE
Veedu varai uravu - LRE
Pavazhakodiyile muthukal - LRE _________________ Meendum Santhippom Viraivil...
