இந்தப் பாடலை இங்கே இன்னும் பேசவில்லை என நினைக்கிறேன்.

எம்.எஸ்.வியின் இசையைப் பற்றிச் சொல்லும் போது,

சிவாஜியையும் எம்.ஜி.ர் யும் விடுத்து,பிற பாடல்களில் எம்.எஸ்.வியின் இசையில் வேறு ஒரு பரிமாணத்தைப் பார்க்கிறேன்.

புதுமுகம், புது கதாபாத்திரம் ஆகியவற்றில், ஒரு சுதந்திரமான, புதிய
எம்.எஸ்.வியைக் காண்கிறேன். இந்த வகைப் பாடல்கள் எல்லாம் மிக மிக உயர்ந்தவை.

அந்த வகையில் இந்தப் பாடல் எப்போதும் தனித்த்ன்மை வாய்ந்தது.

உணர்வுபூர்வமான இசையை இந்தப் பாடலில், மிகவும் உணர்கிறேன்.அதற்கு எம்.எஸ்.விக்கு
என்னுடைய மனமார்ந்த நன்றி.

அவரை தொலைவில் நிறுத்த எனக்கு இஷ்டம் இல்லை.)

எஸ்.ஜானகியின் பாடும் விதம் படதின் கதாபாத்திரத்திற்கு , சிறு நெருடல் கூட இல்லாமல் செம்மையாகப் பொருந்தும்.

இன்று இந்தப் பாடலுடன் என்னுடைய பொழுது துவங்கி இருக்கிறது.
நிச்சயம் மனதுக்கு இனிமையான இசை இது எனக்கு.

பாடல் வரிகளைப் பற்றிச் சொல்லாமல் எப்படி இருக்க முடியும்???? வாலி எந்று நினைக்கிறேன்.

Dear Usha Madam,

Rombavum azhaga ezhuthi irukeenga...
Enaku migavum piditha MSV-SJ combo, along with Unnidathil ennai koduthen.
Arpudhamana oru Chorus humming (konjam slow-a irukum) followed by beautiful SJ's humming (ithu fast-a irukum).
Mridangam, Violin, Guitar, etc., ellam pramadama irukum...
Song mudiyum pothum music romba azhaga irukum...

1st and 2nd interlude-la "Kaatrukenna veli..." line varumbothu music appadiye change agum... antha idam... MSV's trademark...

Whenever I listen to this song, an indescribable feeling of happiness and enthusiasm takes hold of me. The purity of diction, the unbelievable rendering of song by Janaki and above all the soul stirring music of our Great MSV have made this song an unforgettable one. But the sad fact is K.Balachandar who utilised MSV during his heydays became highly opportunistic and never even turned to him in his last 20 films or so.V.Kumar is another gem who is neglected by KB after using him for many years. OK thank u all for the fond rememberance of this song.

This is an extraordinary feat by MSV where he has meticulously captured the happy mood of the heroine. Yet, the song is a bit subdued. At least, To me, it appears so! I think this is because, the heroine's happiness is going to be short-lived. Contrast this with another song of joy 'Ulagam piranthahdhu enakkaaga' where the hero's joy of getting released from prison is reflected by breaking all barriers and going in full flow. It creates an image of a sudden flood flowing wild, engulfing everything on the way. Kaattrukenna veli creates the image of a river full of water flowing freely, yet not breaching the banks. This is the feeling I get.

I also could not help comparing songs by other MDs for similar situations, which fall by the wayside when compared to Kaattrukenna Veli. ('Madai thirandhu' from 'Nizhalgal' sounds highly inadequate to me, when compared with 'Kaattrukkenna Veli' both in lyrics and in music.)
