Dear Friends
Paartthal Pasi Theerum lyrics were of an excellent class fitting to the movie situation and ably mobilizing the story to reach the audience effectively. Right from "Anru oomaippennallo" every song stays fresh as plum and fresh, as freshness could be. Kavi arasu has given very good pieces like Tamil teaching "Aana, Aavanna" , Oomaippennallo , Ullam enbadhu aamai, Kodi asainthadhum, Yarukku mappillai Yaaro, and that deeply philosophic number "PILLAIKKU THANDHAI ORUVAN NAM ELLORUKKUM THANDHAI IRAIVAN". That was an era that demanded heavy input in lyric to drive any point home and Kannadasan amply filled the needs -no matter what the scale of the need was. Obviously MMs had to come out with equally artistic compositions fitting the lyric and at times gloriously taking the lyric to greater heights. That way P P T was a movie of authentic class in TFM using AL R, TM S and P S. THE ELEGANCE OF ALL THE TUNES in this movie deserve a separate thread and it would be an ideal subject to discuss with MSV himself as to how he chose to orchestrate these songs in a very distinct style just to bringforth the mood of the movie. The more we look at these compositions, the more we stand bewildered at the robust skills of MSV as a composer and we do realize the he is humiliatingly humble despite being at the zenith of skill.
A Grand Master never to be paralleled.
Warm regards Prof.K.Raman Navi Mumbai.
