Dear Friends,
Quite inexplicably, thus far I have not seen any reference to ALRaghavan -one of the nice singers who has had a long innings perhaps who sang well but not sung by others. Honestly, he must have been in the slot of PBS but none can explain certain natural eclipsing despite talent. [ Equally sad has been the reputation of P Jeyachandran another brilliant singer who has not had it big commensurate to his ability] What worked against such calibre-artistes was perhaps the earlier culture of fixing up the " voice match" for the artiste on screen. Now the question of voice is ruled out because all artistes except a few are on borrowed voices . THAT IS THE REASON WHY STARS OF THE PRESENT DAY DONOT EVOKE THE EMOTIONAL BONDAGE WITH THE AUDIENCE [Like the yester generation Savitri, Saroja Devi, Padmini, Devika, K R Vijaya, Jayalalitha and so on. Remember how P Susheela matched the voice of every one and lent that "wholesome acceptability" ]
As for AL Raghavan, a number of songs under various MDs can be cited. For mellisai mannar he has done some good items.
ENGIRUNDHALUM VAAZHGA [Nenjil ore aalayam]
SUNDAY PICTURE MONDAY BEACH [Kuzhandaiyum deivamum]
ONCE A PAPA MET A MUMMA [Anbey vaa] as some examples.
Most of the times he was invited for "happy-go-lucky" type of songs. In Nenjil ore aalayam PBS was used for Muthuraman and to draw a very clear line, MM opted AL R for Kalyanakumar. AL R had a very comfortable carer as a singer under all MDs including KVM, TKR, VEDHA AND OTHERS. Usually for comic songs he was preferred as an easy voicematch for Nagesh.
IF I am not wrong, ALR and TMS were the producers of that musical movie KALLUM KANIYAAGUM. It had many good songs and AL R had also given some numbers. Our friends may bring out their memory on this young-looking singer who is the husband of M N Rajam the actress.

If I am not mistaken, AL Raghavan also featured in the song Aandavan thodangi aandigal varai in Kasedhan Kadavulada.
Warm regards,
