Dear friends,
I have been referring to songs from time to time for analysis, though I have not met with a cognizable degree of success. I do not infer improper conclusions. I feel those who can analyse have not perhaps browsed those threads. Any way we can continue to post such requests awaiting analyses to follow in due course. For the current entry, I bring out 2 songs from G.N.Velumani's Selva magal. Though the movie per se it did not scale up desired popularity, the songs were of a real high order. Of them 2 numbers stay fresh in my memory. They are:

KUILAAGA NAAN IRUNDHENNA? - P S , TM S
VENNILA MUGAM TM S , LR E .
Both these need detailed analysis and I trust, interesting references would follow .
Warm regards Prof.K.Raman Navi Mumbai.

KUILAAGA NAAN IRUNDHENNA? - P S , TM S

What a Grand prelude for this song. accordion/violin/with light guitar use in the end.
We have discussed how MSV used shenoy for duet songs one more example Smile .of course bangos accompanied majestically throughout the song.

finer point is both TMS&PS use to sing in high and low pitch.

watch when PS sings KUILYAGA NAAN IRUNDHENA twice with different style. same way TMS sings PATTOODU PORIL IRUNDHENA in different pitch.

regards
ramesh

Selva Magal is a nice album, which was not spoken well.

There is one more song in it

'Parandhu sellum chittukuruvi un paarvaiyai thiruppu'.
