Dear friends,
Among the lyiricists in TF, Kaviarasu has an edge over most others in every domain of a lyric, by simplicity, lofty ideals , ground reality, fineness of emotions and forthright assertions. All of us know his dimension as a poet has been rather wholesome by virtue of his immaculate references to epic characters even in movie songs that moved the movies and the listeners. I feel a reference to his articulate handling of SIMILES [ UVAMAIGAL] was another powerful tool that he employed with a verygood impact. I bring here some of those , so that our friends would bring out more and provide the pleasure of nostalgia in recalling Kavi Arasu.

ALAIKADAL THURUMBANAL
ANALIDAI MEZHUGAANAL [Police kaaran magal]
The same couplet has been reused by Valee in Panchavarnakkili as:
ALAI MAEL THURUMBANAEN
ANAL MAEL MEZHUGANAEN.

OOMAIYIN KANAVAI YARARIVAAR
EN ULLATHTHIN KADHAVAI YAAR THIRAPPAR [Raamu]

KANGAL ARUGAY IMAI IRUNDHUM
KANGAL IMAYAI KAANBADHILLAI [ Thaamarai nenjam]

NEEYUM NAANUM SERNDHIRUNDHOM NILAVUM VAANUM POLAY
NAAN NILAVU POLA THEYNDHU VANDHAEN NEE VALARNDHADHALAY
[Soorya kanthi] ,
the list can go on . In the light of the present happenings in TFM, definitely we feel deprived of all fineness from the lyric to the final product. How elegantly all emotions have been broughtout with ease then ! Truly they have been team works . There is neither team nor work worthy of cognizance now.
Warm regards Prof.K.Raman Navi Mumbai

dear prof,
it is a god's gift to kannadasan and our master

once a person asked K to write about the present culture in the form of tirukural

kannadasan immediately wrote as follows

karkalam nokki karrtrorai ottuthey tharkala nagareegam

no match for both master and k for ever

Dear Prof

I happened to listen to this very song today evening on the net on p.susheela.org. One of my many favourites.

A small correction.

KANGAL ARUGAY IMAI IRUNDHUM
KANGAL IMAYAI Parthathillai [ Thaamarai nenjam]

MSV and Kannadasan were made for each other (like Wills cigarattes)
