Dear Mr. Srikumar,

Thanks for starting this topic. I have always been enchanted by the humming in MSV's songs and amazed at the incredible variety. I wonder whether any other MD would have created a comparable number, not to speak of the variety, quality and effectiveness.

I am sharing a few which I could immediately recall.

1) Perhaps the shortest yet very effective humming is in 'ore paadal unnai azhaikkum' (Engirundho vandhaal)

2) The soul-lifting humming in the interlude of 'chittukkuruvi muththam koduththu' which imparts a feeling of flying.

3) The romantic humming in the interlude of 'yarukku maappillai yaaro.'

4) The short humming in the beginning of 'oru muththaraththil' (sorgam) somewhat similar to 'ore paadal' mentioned in number 1)

5) The humming preceding the laughter in 'Sirippil undaagum raagaththile' (engiruntho vanthaal)

6) The haunting humming of 'Pottu Vaiththa mugamo'

7) The immortal humming of 'Nenjam marappadhillai.'

Cool The laughter oriented humming of 'sirippu varudhu.'

9) The indescribable 'bilu bilu bilu..' hummimg in 'Boomiyil iruppadhum vaanaththil parappadhm' that seems to be integrated with the joy of flying.

10) The humming of satisfaction that comes in the middle of 'unnai adaindha manam vazhga' (Can someone reveal the name of the film? It has been listed under 'Aanandhi' as well as under 'Poojaikku vandha malar.'

11) There is a beautiful hummimg towards the end in the song 'Thedith thedi kaaththirundhen' It is a simple 'aaa...' repeated 4 times.' The modulation in the fourth time is extraordinary. Mr. Raghavendran has already given the link for this. I am also giving the link for this song as well as for 'unnai adaindha manam vaazhga.'

Please listen to a rare musical.

Dear Raghavan Kannan
There are two films already released with the title Naalum Therindhavan. The film you mentioned had music by SMS with the following songs included:
1. Nari Ondru Sirikkindradu - T.M.S.
2. Nilavukke Pogalam Van Nilavukke - T.M.S. P.Susila

The one now in discussion had music by Mellisai Mannar.

In fact I read somewhere that another film is now in progress with the same title.

Raghavendran.

Dear Rengaswamy Sir and friends,
Humming is another area of specialisation of MM where nobody is anywhere near or around to reach. More than the songs the most I like still and for my lifetime will be the humming in the film Sumathi En Sundari. The romance in the voice of humming singers produced in that film is uncomparable and highly emotive. If any body had never experienced romance and if he has to be enthused for it, just ask him/ her to just listen the humming in the film Sumathi En Sundari. Throughout the film MSV has given the youth and energy for the film and credit goes to CVR who made use of it in full. Particularly, the outdoor scenes at the Tea Estate, the greenery, young Sivaji and Jayalalitha in romantic mood, starring at each other and there comes the humming .....
Just see the film and find it for yourselves.
Humming in all the songs of MM are bonuses. ....

Raghavendran.

Hi,

And also "Azhage Amudhe" the fabulous duet by PBS and PS in "Raja Malayasimman". What a composition, melody ruled those days!
