Film: Neelakkadalin Orathile
Song: Dhagathukku Thanni kudichen
Dear friends,
Mellisai Mannar has rendered many songs (better than professional playback singers) and one such is this one mentioned above. This is a fantastic number. TFMLover has posted in the forumhub. Following is the link:

more importantly - from kaviathalaivi -NAERAANA NEDUNCHALAI - ORIDATHIL IRU kooragapirvathundu - A SONG FOR THE PRESENT DAY SINGERS TO LISTEN BEFORE THEY GO INFRONT OF MIKE - chandies like even ich , ipp were pronounced very clearly .
a song from kutoo puzhukkal
vandikkaran magan - ennakkoru kathaley
ninaithaley innikum - sambo siva sambho .
pasamalar - is it GK venkatesh or our MM.
Actually , i was trying to get the songs of MM copied in MP3 from ATM .

Dear vk,
The song you are referring to from Paasa malar is the title song that reads - Anbu malar aasai malar aruLodu malarvadhu thaan paasa malar amma. Though the title song, it is played at the intermission in the movie. The song has been rendered by MSV [not GKV as doubted]. This song is easily the best for its variety of emotion-packed delivery. The way he has sung the song is a model lesson to follow the bottom line of adhering to sruthi no matter how the pitch and emotional delivery vary through a piece. The somg literally squeezes the listener.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Warm regards Prof.K.Raman Madurai.

dear prof

thanks fr the confirmation .i thought so .
i do agree , there is no one parallel to MM , in getting the emotions out . (any one includes all past present ,) i am sure PS(courtesy yengo neyo and many ) / BMK( courtesy thanga ratham vanthathu , kodimalar . noolveli etc ) both will second me if they are asked .
thats preciously the reason , why he was called in to render both Sangamam , as well as kannathil muthamittal , by ARR if we listen the songs we know , the reason -both are very emotional .and ARR has also admitted that he has invited Mr MSV , to get that feel out ..
the phrase.. MAGHANNEE.......... still reengaram idugirathu en kathugalil

what else i can say than i am blessed , to live , when his genius is exhibited and explored

no question
he is simply the greatest Singer as well as composer , un parallel in TFM

Well said dear Prof. and dear Mr.VK.

The song Enakoru kadhali is available in the list and is from the movie Muthana Muthallavo.

I too was surprised when I didn't see Nerana Nedunchalai (One of my most liked song. I have it in audio cassette) and Siva Sambo songs in that CD.
I am listing out some songs apart from the above:
MSV - humming
Kodukka kodukka - Nan aanayittal (with PS)
Nitham nitham - Kootu puzhukkal (with SPB)
Paalirukkum pazhamirukkum - Paava mannippu (with PS)
Naalai ulagai aala vendum - Uzhaikum karangal (with KJY)
Varusam parthu thedhi parthu - Maniosai (with SJ)

MSV Songs
Sindhu nadhi poove - Sankar Salim Simon (with SJ)
Vasantha Kaala nadhigalile - Moodru mudichu (VJ and PJ)
At the end, MSV will sing for Rajini with great emotion.
Another good example for emotional intelligence... Smile

Actually MSV tried for a diffrent voice which will create an impact.
ethuvum sari pattu varalai. So avare paadalamnu decide pannittaram.

Infact, he is the first one to sing a song for Rajinikanth.

Dear Mr.Venkat,
In a lighter vein it can be said that MSV is the first one to sing for all actors / actresses putting in all his 'expected' patterns for the singers to adopt. It is too well known now that singers bring out just portion of a variety given to them. [Recall the events related to Engo neYO]. So, only on occasions we happen to receive the final product in MSV's Voice.
Two more songs with MSV's embellishments though the records do not carry his name are
ThaaZhayaam poomudichu [Baaga pirivinai] TMS, P.LEELA
Paattukku paatteduththu [Padagotti] TMS PS.
MSV has given substantial back up by his voice. Please listen to these songs.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Warm regards Prof.K.Raman Madurai.

Dear Mr.VK,
I got that song.
But it does not have the bit of MSV singing.

Dear Prof.
Is it the song "Ennai eduthu thannai koduthu" from Padagotti...

Two more songs of MSV I forget (Mellisai mannar ennai mannipaaraaga):
1. Darmathin kannai katti nagarathil aadavittu - Patinapravesam
A very great song with beautiful orchestration - flute, chorus, drums etc.,
2. Vasanthangal varumunne - Lalitha
A PS version is also there.

Please check http://www.msvtimes.com/music/bgm/bgm.html

The very first number titled "Prelude Feast". Enjoy a SPECTRUM of preludes by our Master and at the end I had concluded with our Master's voice... It includes "ManavinaigaL" !!!

There was a program some years (back may be in 1994-95) in SunTV. Its Cinema Quiz.
Someone had sent some information about Mellisai Mannar to this program.
The quiz master read that information.
I give below whatever I remember.
1. Kalangarai Vilakkam - MSV's first movie after separation form TKR
2. Has sung nearly 130 songs.
3. Ponezhil poothathu and Malarnthu malaraga - most no.of times Madras Vividh Bharati-la olibarappapatta paadal
4. Composed nearly 75 % of MGR movies
5. First one to give voice for Rajini (Moondru Mudichu and also Siva Sambo...)

Dear Venkat

Did you have a chance to try the page using Internet Explorer. I have heard issues while using FireFox browsers. I'm aware and there are plans to address in the near future. Let me know if you are still unable to listen.

Dear Mr.vk
As per my memory , Nee appeared first with MSV as MD sometime in June-July 1965. By then I was doing I year PG and we were then on an algal collection trip to Kanyakumari coast. A batch of us saw the movie at Nagarcoil when the tour organizers permitted us an afternoon for shopping. As could be understood , all were eager to see how Viswanathan performs in isolation. No doubt MSV proved himself a force to reckon with. THEREAFTER WHATEVER HAPPENED IS HISTORY NOW.
Warm regards Prof.K.Raman Madurai.
