"ஹே.... நாடோடி" (அன்பே வா)


கடந்த சில வாரங்களாக நான் அடிமையாக இருக்கும் ஒரு பாடல் இப்பாடல். இதன் அருமைகளை எழுதுவதென்பது மிகக்கடுமையான ஒன்று. எப்பேற்பட்ட பாடல், ஆர்கஸ்ட்ரேஷனென்ன, 'ரிதங்'களின் அழகென்ன எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் மேலாக மெலடியும் இனிமையுமென்ன. இசைச் சாதனைகளில் வானுயர்ந்து நிற்கிறார் மெல்லிசை மன்னர் என்பதற்கு இப்படத்தின் ஒவ்வொரு பாடலும், பின்னணி இசையும் எடுத்துக்காட்டு!

இப்பாடலைப் பற்றி எழுத எப்படித் தொடங்குவது, எங்கிருந்து தொடங்குவது என்றே தெரியவில்லை. சரி, பல்லவியிலிருந்து தொடங்கி பாடலுடன் நாமும் பயணிப்போம்.

முன்னிசையே இல்லாமல் பல்லவியைத் தொடங்கியிருப்பதே ஒரு புதுமைதான்!

போக வேண்டும் ஓடோடி (ஓடோடி)
ஹே... ஏ.ஏ.. வாயாடி (வாயாடி)
போகவைப்போம் போராடி (போராடி)

கோரஸ் பல்லவியின் ஒவ்வொரு கடைசி வார்த்தையையும் பின்பாடுவது அழகு. இதில் குறிப்பிடவேண்டியது "போராடி" வார்த்தையின் போது தான். கோரஸ் பின்னணியில் "போராடீ....இ...இ" என்று அற்புதமாக இருக்கும். அதில் "PARTS SINGING" மிகக் கச்சிதமாக அமைந்திருக்கும்!

அது முடிகையில் கோரஸ்...

"அஹா... ஒஹோ..... ஒஹோ.....ஒஹோ" ...என்று பாடியிருக்குமிடத்தில் தான் எத்தனை மெலடி. மெல்லிசை மன்னரின் அக்மார்க் முத்திரை ஆணித்தனமாக பதிந்திருப்பதை அறியலாம்.

Typical ஜாஸ் ரிதம் கொண்டு துவங்கும் இப்பாடல். Brush ட்ரம்ஸ் உபயோகம் பிரமாதம்!

முதல் இடையிசையில் கிட்டார் சோலோ, பிறகு பியானோ, பின் மீண்டும் கிட்டார், அதற்கு இடை இடையே Brass-Trumpet சேர்க்கைகள் பட்டையைக் கிளப்பும் Jazz ரிதம்!

பியனோவும் கோரஸும் அமைதியாக பின்னணியில் வருவது அழகு.
ட்ரம்பெட் - குழல் - பாங்கூஸ் கொண்டு முடிய, ரிதம் தொடர்கிறது.

ஹே....

எந்த ஊர்..... என்ன பேர்
எந்த காலேஜ்.... என்ன Group (இங்கு வரும் chord மாற்றம் அருமை!)

அடுத்து இங்கு ரிதம் மாறுகிறது... கொஞ்சம் 'ராக்-ன்-ரோல்' பாணியில்!

Test Match புரியுமா (அஹா... என்ன மெலடி இந்த இடத்தில்)

பாடல் மறுபடியும் பழைய ரித்ததிற்குச் செல்ல... பெண் குரல்கள் துவக்கம். மீண்டும் பல்லவி:

பெண்களோடு போட்டி போட வா (எல்.ஆர்.ஈஸ்வரி.... இவ்வரியில் "பெண்களோடு போட்டி போட..வ்வ்வா - என்று அநாயாசமாகப் பாடும் அழகு மிகவும் ரசிக்கத்தக்கது!)

தேனிருக்கும் மொழியிருக்க மீனிருக்கும் விழியிருக்க
எங்களோடு ஆட்டமாட வா (சுசீலா) (பின்னணியில் பெண் கோரஸ்)

இப்போது நம் வாத்தியார் Entry. ஆம்... பாடலில் டி.எம்.எஸ் கர்ஜனைக் குரலின் வருகை! பாடலில் ரிதம் மாறுகிறது.

புலியைப்பார் நடையிலே
புயலைப்பார் செயலிலே
புரியும்பார் முடிவிலே

விரட்டினால் முடியுமா
மிரட்டினால் படியுமா

இவ்வரி முடிகையில் - Unleashed வயலின் ஆர்க்கஸ்ட்ரேஷன் அற்புதமாக இருக்கும். எம்.ஜி.ஆரின் பாயும் துள்ளல்களுக்கு காட்சியில் மிகப் பொருத்தமாக இருக்கும்.

துணுக்கு: இதே போல ரிதமும்- வயலின் ஆர்க்கஸ்ட்ரேஷனை இளையராஜாவின் இரு பாடல்களில் காணலாம். "ராஜா கைய வெச்சா" (அபூர்வ சகோதரர்கள்) பாடலில் இரண்டாம் இடையிசையிலும், "அம்மம்மா வந்ததிங்கு சிங்கக்குட்டி" (பேர் சொல்லும் பிள்ளை) பாடலின் முன்னிசையிலும். Not identical - but similar style.

அஹா.... என்ன மெலடி? மெல்லிசை ஊற்றே!! எங்கிருந்தையா உங்களுக்கு இப்படி இசை பொங்குகிறது ???!!!!

டி.எம்.எஸ் கணீர் குரல் - எவ்வகையான பாடலும் இவருக்கு லட்டு சாப்பிடுவது போலாகும்!

இங்கு சோலோ கிட்டாருடன் ரிதம் படு வேகமாக மாறும். இன்னொரு ரிதம் பாடலில்!

பறவை போல் பறந்தவன்
கவலைகள் மறந்தவன் நான் என்று அருமையாக சரணம் முடிய... டி.எம்.எஸ் பல்லவியை மீண்டும் பாட பாடல் முடியும்.

புதுமை விரும்பிகளுக்கு - இப்போதுள்ள Terminology படி Fantabulous "FUSION MUSIC". ஒரே பாடலில் நாங்கைந்து வகையான ரிதம் (யப்பா!). மெலடி விரும்பிகளுக்கு அருமையான மெல்லிசை. மற்ற சிலருக்கு அட்டகாசமான வாத்தியார் பாடல்! CLASS-MASS Balance என்பதை மெல்லிசை மன்னரிடமிருந்துதான் கற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டும்.

இப்படி பல வருடங்களுக்கு முன்னே இசையில் என்னவெலாமோ செய்துவிட்டு, நம்மை எல்லாம் இப்படிப் பைத்தியம் பிடித்து அலையவிட்டுவிட்டு அவர் மட்டும் சாந்தோம் மகானாக தன் இல்லத்தில் அமைதியாக அமர்ந்திருப்பது கொஞ்சமும் நியாயமில்லாதது.

ஆன்மீக அடிப்படையில் சரஸ்வதி தேவியின் தவப்புதல்வன். தந்தை பெரியார் வழியில் ஒரு தனி மனித சிறப்புகள் நிறைந்த உயர்ந்த மனிதன். Charles Darwin மொழியில் இயற்கை தேர்ந்தெடுத்த இசைச் சிறப்பாளன். எவ்வகையில் பார்த்தாலும் மெல்லிசை மன்னர் ஒரு ஒப்பிலா உலக இசை மாமேதை!!!

Ram, as usual a gripping write-up on a tour-de-force composition. Variety of rhythms and what structuring and orchestration. None of the traditional pallavi-charanam structure. Vocal harmony, thrilling guitar passages, gripping violin passages, varied melodic structures, unconventional song structure on the whole. One wonders how MSV even conceived the song. MSV patri SPB kooriyathu thAn ninaivukku varugirathu.....'MSV kadithhu pOttathai thAn matravargal eduthhu koNdArgaL'. Of all the phrasing played out by the instruments, the violin passages stand tallest. Watching the recording of this song live .....guess the people with good Karma accumulated were there when it happened. Often the flow of this song accompanied by vocal harmony gave me the goose bumps.

MSV's sense of placement of vocal harmony is far too ahead of the rest of the field. Credit him with using human cords as chords in songs first !!!

Uncoventional song to the core!! "How MSV would have perceived this song?" - Exactly same thought I had while my write up.

Dear Ram & Vatsan,

Great way to express the Monastry called Melody being ruled by MSV all the way. Anbey Vaa is one movie that I'll never forget in my life as this song Puthia Vaanam.... was the first ever song that I listened to (when I was in my KG in Tuticorin). As my school gate was opposite to my house itself, any time this song was played on the radio, I'll immediately run off from school to listen to this (and get whacked later ofcourse by my mom ). What just started as a sheer listening pleasure, later turned to be an absolute addiction to MSV's music that is still in me and will ever be in me.

MSV's level of orchestration is something that is worth it's publication as mere guides for those who want to achieve or aspire to do something in music. In other words, this could be the biggest guide in the world (MSV is way ahead of every one in everything you can think of in music!!!!!!!!!!!!!) as imaginE the amount of information one could gather from all his compositions. Truely an amazing creator. Vatsa, that Kannazhagan song is haunting me day in day out. Ennappa I was expecting you to share some thoughts from you about the Musical rehaersal we attended the other day (Sangeetha Saraswathy Award function musical nite). Both Vatsan & I were enjoying every moment as the Legend kept on changing tune after tune and in some places we were literally awestruck and you know why???? MSV landed with some rare chords and I am sure Vatsan could throw more light on these as my technical knowledge is limited in this area, but my Love & Addiction to My Master's Music is..................UNLIMITED FOREVER

As all of you have said, none of MSV's compositions could be understood for it HOW part and you have to simply acknowledge that
IT HAPPENS, THAT's ALL !!

Would the guys who had watched the composition ,orchestration and recording of this song at that point of time, have understood REALLY the marvel of the song ? inculding the producers, Directors ? I doubt !
It would have been another good song from MSV, who had been the most wanted music director then ! What a pathetic situation ya !

IAM IMAGINING ABOUT THE COMPOSING SITUATION. I THINK HE WOULD HAVE BEEN BRIEFED ABOUT THE COMPETION BETWEEN MGR AND SAROJA DEVI WHO TO SCORE POINTS WITH ONE ANOTHER UNTIL THEY FALL IN LOVE. SO HE WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THERE IS NEED TO FOLLOW THE USHUAL RULE LIKE PALLAVI, CHARANAM ETC. BUT THE CREATION IS A MASTER PIECE. THE GREATNESS OF THIS SONGS IS IN IT'S TEMPO. THE OTHER ASPECT OF THIS SONG IS THE PICTURISATION
