_________________ Ravikumar |

Hey Mr.Ravi, you have picked one of my favorite song. I like the themmangu & pathos versions.
Tonight I prefer the short sweet pathos delight to cuddle up this cold rainy windy night. Forever I can lay down with that elongated 'ammaadi...' longing echo! adhuleyum idham yerukku!
nice job,Sir!
vinatha.

Dear Ravi,

Dear Ravi,
Thanks for bringing out this amazing composition. I got to listen to this number after a loong time. I really fell for the flute in the second interlude when I heard this song for the first time.
But I would like to know if the first interlude has anything else other than the humming of TMS ? Believe the movie's version might have a prolonged interlude than the radio and the CD versions. Can anyone check this please and share if the first interlude is different.
As you conclude, one cannot say which of the versions is better than the other !!!
Our Master chose to have a drum background in the rhythm for the same folk melody just to differentiate and portray that the Hero is no more an innocent village guy. With this , he aesthetically brings out the sorrow in the Hero with an amazing Violin ensemble. What a thought process and a level of imagination !!!
The other Gems from this movie are Nilavu Vandhu Paadumo and Chithirai Madham ,as we all know !!!
PLEASE KEEP UP THE GREAT WRITING !!!!
MSV RULES !!!!

Dear friend,
First let me thank you for bringing out this evergreen number. This song takes me to 70s. 15th August 1970 - that was the day this film was released. Well before that the records came out much early with the name of the film as SAAPPAATTU RAAMAN. The 78 records were labelled in this title and released. This particular song was instant hit and who were all able to afford to the records got it. After some time the title was changed to RAAMAN ETTHANAI RAAMANADI but not the sensation for this song. It was played frequently in Vivid Bharathi. It was the peak for Nadigar Thilagam and the craze for hims was wild. And finally the d-day - Independence Day of 1970 and we the Sivaji Fans assembled well before for the preview show for the Fans. It was not wonder as the theatre roared when NT's name appeared on the screen. But you won't believe - there was one more occasion for the roaring applause in the title scene - YES the whole Shanthi Theatre at Madras was thunderous for that magic name - MELLISAI MANNAR M.S. VISWANATHAN - what more he would have wanted. The whole audience - of course 99 per cent Sivaji Fans - clapped and appreciated the appearance of the name of MSV - such was the impact of this song!
May be some body thought I am boring with this anecdote - but I felt it is apt to mention it here.

Dear Ragasuda,
This is very interesting info that you have shared with every one of us here. Infact, I used to wonder many times, how the public response would have been when these gems were released and how the fans would have welcomed those super hits on theatres etc. These types of anecdotes from people like you definitely adds so much interest to the readers, especially of this generation. And it is really great to know about the applauds for Mellisai Mannar's name on the screen.
A question I had for a long time in my mind... Were you "Sivaji Rasigar Manra Thalaivar" for some district those days ??? If yes, I request you to share great moments like these during "Fans Meet", important articles, rare photos of Nadigar Thilagam etc.
Thanks for sharing and expecting more of this sort! _________________ Ramkumar |

Dear Ravikumar,
Your current status shows OBSERVER . True. You have observed the essence of the song so minutely ! Cheers.
Dear All,
I would say, this song is one of the most favourite amongst the Nadigar Thilagam-MSV combination. Even a physically challenged person will stand up and dance automatically to the tune & the native orchestration arrangement ! You call it an eve teaser or a semi-folk … As Mr. Ragasuda rightly mentioned, even I also get nostalgic memories whenever I hear this song as it goes way back to our childhood days when my Father used to sing cheerfully ( no need to mention, he was a hardcore Nadigar Thilagam fan ) and putting thalam with whatever that comes before him.
Awesome lyrics ! Just one sentence is enough to summarize the character of Nadigar Thilagam here……
You try someoneelse’s voice for this song and see the output . It will be pathetic …. Can a SPB or PBS or KJY sing this song ?? This is in no way to denounce these greats One and only TMS can give this tremendous impact…… TMS excels in both the versions …..
That Ammaadeeeeeeeeeeeeeee……….. and a brief pause .....Then TMS roars with ...Ponnukku thanga manasu...........
Who wins here finally ?? Is it the scintillating tune or the greatest Actor or the singer ?? All have won .
Ram, I bet , if the movie is re-released today, you can imagine the theatre going to raptures when this song is played. |

Dear Balaji Sir,
An uncomparable composition and orchestration in "Nilavu Vanthu Paadumo"... I would say one of the best of PS, with the expression of emotion so splendid in this song. And the orchestration, EMPEROR tops again.. when PS sings "Paadumo.. Aadumo", the background will be a mild one expressing the lady's sorrowful mindset, but when she compasses herself at lines ""Paadattum... Aadattum", the background raises to a rich orchestra.. Stupendous!!! _________________ Thanks and Regards,
