In a recent function, Rotary club fecilitates MSV and TKR. SPB at the function and great narration of the event by SPB's fans.
http://spbindia.blogspot.com/2007/11/our-spb-at-rotary-felicitation-ceremony.html
MSV - TKR mutual admiration
----------------------------------
It had a funny tale attached to it. When one the Rotarians was called upon to present a shawl, he approached MSV but MSV wanted TKR to be attended first whereas TKR was of the view that first MSV should be taken care of. This exchange of love & respect went on for a few engrossing moments and finally TKR accepted the first honour followed by MSV and then our SPB. This incident brought out the respect that MSV had for his elder partner.
SPB's comments on MSV
----------------------------
“who would not want one more chance to see God (meaning MSV)”
...if not for MSV, he would have been an unknown entity in the Tamil Music World – thunderous applause followed.
TKR about MSV
-----------------
Next, MSV/TKR was asked to speak. Once again a pet tussle took place as to who should speak first. Finally TKR succumbed to MSV’s pressure and delivered a small speech. He started off saying that HE (MSV) did everything but gave him the credit. He said that he was not one to talk much but given a violin he could play on for hours
MSV
-----
he had been duly awarded by the masses and that other awards would not have been quite as significant.
I feel extremely happy after reading this article. |

Hello Sri Sriram,
Many thanks for posting the link to this wonderful write up. It is just after 2 am in the morning here. Before retiring to bed, I thought I would just browse our website quickly. Reading the article you have quoted made me so happy. It is so hearterning to know that so many Rotarians were keen to sing on stage some of Mellisai Mamannargal's compositions. SPB has done himself proud from beginning to end. I was deeply touched when I read SPB's quote - "who would not like to see GOD"!. It is also very humbling to learn about the respect MSV has for TKR and vice versa. For them to be like this even after years of separation ( 'vidhiyin vilayattu' ), their friendship and bond should have been very strong indeed.I am deeply grateful to the Rotarians and SPB for honouring the greatest music composers that Indian film industry has ever seen. I also express my gratitude to SPB forum for their excellent coverage of this event. My heart is full of delight now, I can sleep soundly. Long live Mellisai Mamannargal.
Good night all,

Here is one more article about MSV's compositions from yesterday's issue
http://www.thehindu.com/fr/2007/11/30/stories/2007113050470100.htm
L R Eswari on MSV
---------------------
Working for MSV was challenging. He wouldn’t spare a singer till he/she sang it the way he wanted. Upset by his sternness, there have been singers, who would go away wiping their tears, saying they would return the next day. But I would stand unfazed and not budge till I got the effect he wanted. ‘I have to make him eat his words and compliment me,’ I would tell myself. After all, at the end of the day, it was the singers who got name and fame from his creations.”
L R Eswari again on Pattathu Rani song......
--------------------------------------------------
“Looking back, I don’t know how I did it,” she says. An exhausting 15-day rehearsal with an array of 150 musicians and the toil of its creator (MSV) made the song a reality that stuns you till date. |
