Great songs, indeed!!!

1) Deivam thantha Veedu - The debut stage for Jaiganesh, and was well received. For this song, Kavignar Kannadasan gave about 10 charanams, KB and EMPEROR struggled a lot, which to include and which to omit.

In "Anthuleni Katha" , the telugu version (EMPEROR is the MD again), both the current superstars of Tamil cinema acted in the movie. Kamalhassan as the bus conductor, in which the heroine travels daily. Rajinikanth acted in Jaiganesh's role.

2) Athisaya Raagam - Cannot be expressed in a word about this song. I read in EMPEROR's biography that KB asked the song in a raaga that has never been used before in Cine Music. EMPEROR, in turn asked the singer Bala Murali Krishna, who gave the idea of "Mahathi". (Though I havent learnt Carnatic music, I remember the name of this Raaga. I hope any of our forum member can shred a technical analysis on this song).

Dear MSVs

Actually Jesudoss did not work with our EMPEROR for some time. While recording Jesudoss was objecting the loudness of Tabala Prasad and complained to EMPEROR and EMPEROR was about to support Prasad because of the situation of the song. Jesudoss has annoyed and informed that he will not work for EMPEROR and our EMPEROR was silent. After a short gap, EMPEROR has invited Jesudoss and offered excellent songs of MEENAVA NANBAN, MADHURAI MEETIYA SUNDARAPANDIAN, ANDHAMAN KADALI etc. One point we should note our EMPEROR has no personal envy with anybody (like present cine musicians-Vairamuthu Vs Ilayaraja) and invite for the songs reaching the expectations of music lovers, producers and Directors.

One of my most favourites between MSV & KJY is "Veenai Pesum, athai meettum viralgalai kandu", stunning melody with the Veena being played all over the song. Great work by our Legend.

Dear Usha ma'm
The song "Veenai Pesum" is from the movie "Vazhvu En Pakkam". Muthuraman and Lakshmi form the lead protagonists in the movie.Another song that I know from this movie is "Thirupathi Malayil Yerukinrai...." sung by our Master himself !!! Amazing song....Please listen to it in the "SONGS" section of our website. You will love it...

What are the other songs from the movie ?

Again,an amazing prelude, that gives the expression of a moving train and the raising whistle of the engine, when our EMPEROR starts "Thirupathi Malayil Erikindrai".. Beautiful!!!

DEAR FRIENDS,
There is a reference to that unpalatable incident on the recording set when KJJ almost proved to every one that Ego can blind anyone to a point of distress to others. What happened should not have happened to MSV-FOR ON THAT OCCASION ALL RECORDING ENGINEERS felt too hurt at the gesticulations of KJJ. But being a true composer,MSV stood by Tabla Prasad. Much later only, MSV used KJJ for that number
'Mannikka Maattaya" an apt reference to the episode. [that is what one one of our friends recalls]. In later years the esteem for MSV by KJJ is too well known to be discussed. There are such pointers for all of us to stay totally composed on the face of any adversity.
Warm regards Prof.K.Raman Navi Mumbai.

Dear Prof Uncle,
You have beautifully delineated the incident with the appropriate word "GESTICULATION". It seems KJJ was just singing 25% of what our Master had taught him and this had bothered Tabla Prasad a lot and hence he stopped playing tabla during the recording. And when questioned , he informed the same in microphone. KJJ called upon Shri.MSV with his index finger (gesticulated) and after some misunderstanding walked out of the recording. Our Master had told him that Tabla Prasad and his father had been playing for him years together well before KJJ came into his team and hence cannot drop him from the recording.
This particular incident has numerous versions. One of them being a quarrel between MSV and KJJ over an inebriated instrumentalist (Tabla Prasad ??) in the recording. Am not sure how authentic this version is , yet the aforementioned is from authentic sources.

Nevertheless, I would still defer in your views of increase in KJJ's esteem for MSV in the later years for the very reason that he still blames the MD of "Andhaman Kaadhali" which is our Master for his rendition of "The(i)ru Koviley Odivaa..." in the song "Ninaivaley Silai Seidhu.." . He says this in almost all his interviews claiming that the MD did not correct his mistake during recording. But the truth remains concealed here as our Master had corrected this grave error several times during the recording and that he kept on repeating it.So our Master had told the Director to shoot some Temple on a street corner ("THERU KOVILEY...") when these lines are sung in the movie !!!

MSV Rules !!!
