Dear friends,
Among the various songs with /for kids, this number has been unique in different angles. Look at how PS matches Devika's voice as she ends the syllable Muthalla VO and in every other ending sylable she aptly makes it appear that Devika is singing.[PS is quite adept in this game]. But , there are other items of interest in this number. When CVSridar was planning the movie he advertised in Papers calling for a kid [totally new to screen] smart and chubby , to add a heavy impact [when later the child succumbs to cancer]. A very large band of kids appeared in Chitraalaya office[ recalls Sridar's popularity as a star Director]. Sridar had a tough time picking out one kid from that potential bunch. Ultimately, Sridar felt he has been caught in his own web. As is always the case in situations like this, a solution came by in the form of a nagging problem . Kutti Padmini insisted that Sridar should select only her and none else. She kept on nagging telling him"You select any one but, only I will act in the movie. She was no doubt a good choice but CVS had no choice as she selected herself by perseverence and probably CVS conceded as she was the kid of Radhabai who had a regular appearance in CVS movies.
Even more interesting is this: In no time Kannadasan made the lyric AND IN THREE MINUTES, MSV finalised the tune [ one of MSV's favourite songs] and brought off an excellent orchestration with eversomany instruments, mouth organ, tingling of bells and what not. Of the many kid songs by all MDs this has been evergreen by its tune , singing and orchestration. A marvellous team work.
Warm regards Prof.K.Raman NAVI Mumbai.

Proffessorji,

Here is the detailed article given by our Mr. MSVRamki, about how this song 'muthaana muthallavO' tune was compossed within few minutes when travelling in a fiat car, and when waiting for railway crossing at Kodambakkam.

That Kodambakkam level crossing is more famous among cine fans at that time, because they can make 'dharisanam' of many actors/actresses and cine personalities there, when they were waiting for opening of the gate. I heared that, the fans have cursed CM Thiru Kamaraj, for building the over-bridge there, so that they missed those golden oppertunities of such dharisanams.
