Dear friends,
There have been a number of Vairamuthu references to MSV.But, this is slightly different, showing how MSV has kept interpersonal relations across generations. In the 1980s when Viramuthu was taking roots as a lyricist, he has worked with MSV. He, as a student like then youth of the state was himself an admirer of MM for the variety of songs composed by him. When he had the occasion to work with MSV certainly it should have been an "out of the world" moment for him. To quote Vairamuthu "When MM composes songs I have enjoyed how the cluster of hairs at the mane of MSV dance to the tunes of the master". It is a very powerful observation in the sense that literally every part of MSV's exterior would bubble with enthusiasm as he merely pumps his harmonium. Now comes the interesting part. For a number of days MSV had been inviting VM for lunch with a tempting offer that chicken preparations in his [MSV's] house are a delicacy. At last on a day, both MM and VM went to the former's house for lunch. Items were arriving one after the other except the much expected chicken. Obviously VM grew impatient, and was looking forward to the delicacy. Then MSV sensed the predicament of VM and asked for the item . MSV's wife politely told it was a forbidden thing on a Fri day and thus a day without fry. VM has described this in 1982 Gemini cinema to highlight the point that MSV's perputual thought is only around music and does not even keep track of the day of the week. Quite an interesting event though the 2 belong to entirely different generations.
