Dear friends
Iam not requesting TMS to stand erect. But, a movie on this name had some excellent compositions of Mellisai Mannar, In the period 1969 or so there used to be a sceptic referenceto the song 'Taedi varum' in this movie Nimirndhu nil. Quite a few suspected if the name of the singer was wrongly printed on the record. Actually the song has been rendered by TMS and PS
But certainly MSV has exercised absolute control over TMS and made him render in such a soft mellowed voice that many ascribed it to PBS.
Rarely does one find the sophisticated play of bango and drums as in this song. While the singers keep a gentle profile, the interlude in drums, flute and bango raises the adrenalin by the sheer pace. But nothing is disjoint.Everything falls to place despite the scale difference between voice and the interludes. All beats are in a brisk pace and ably linked to the charanams and pallavi.Analysts may please post ypur observations on this song.
The other song that comes to my mind is a briliant 'themmangu' from the same movie. It is 'Oththai adi paadhayile' in standard TMS fashion. But, MM has packed value by the play of flute and tabla. This song is a singer's pardise with so much variation of amplitude. The lyric is also down to earth but elevated to heavens by MSV. If our friends can analyse the intricacies of the two songs, a large circle would stand the benefit.
My choosing the caption is rather deliberate to indicate how two totally different styles have been composed by MSV exploiting the full potential of the same singer. Kudos to MSV.
Warm regards Prof.K.Raman NaviMumbai

Dear Raman Sir,
You have rightly proved you're one of those ardent fans of MSV by choosing this song. Almost all his fans will point out to this one from this film, if asked which is the best. Of course, the folk number Othaiyadi Paadhaiyilae has the best impact in touching one's heart in TMS's voice. But Thaedi varum is a class of its own. I liked each and every second of this song very much. At least we should have heard it a million times. and still then, it will be fresh.

Variations shown for the pallavi after every charanam is splendid. And the pace at which the percussion is played at the backdrop of the pallavi while the song is closed is simply mind blowing.
