A Handful of Piano Picks - Song 2

My dear Ram

It was a great analysis of the song 'Kaatru vandaal thalai saayum'
and I read it many times and enjoyed every word of it.

The presentation of ' Naaanum Naaa aa num Naa aa aa num' is possible only by MSV !

You remember this used to be one of the songs which I used to play for you after my daily moring walk with MSV on in my ears - and you used to play the tune in key board and wonder - What made MSV to press this particular key to make the song unique and amazing !

I liked your language when you wrote ' oru bhajanai nadaiyaha marum' -a surprise element, in your language.

Nice to see that members are giving 'chit' to you to write on different songs !

Naanum Un rasigan. Go on !

Why don't you tell members how to use Tamil scripts so that everybody can be at 'home' in their writing .

With love
Ramki

Dear All,

Thanks for all your replies. I'm literally enjoying them.

The series will just cover piano songs with a particular rhythm pattern. Am sure this will still leave behind many other songs of the same pattern. But if we just "TRY" to come out of this pattern, there are sooooo many other piano songs that one will go literally crazy !!! Innumerable examples for Jazz-Piano, Soft-Piano etc (and many more). Vaidy uncle's commendable effort in collecting and categorizing songs as "Piano Man", "Strings Man", "Drums Man" etc, will help one to understand and realise what this Musical Genius has done way back !!!

Dear Balaji,

Your reply to "Ennai Theiyuma"
S.Balaji wrote:

Hey Ram
I was just humming / recollecting the song. Listen at this moment when the violin play their part, THERE WILL BE DOUBLE BASS SUPPORT FROM BEHIND
How come you missed this out !
How much ever analysis we make on a song, still that will not be enough! Awaiting your detailed post on "Kaatru Vandhaal" in your style. But am sure that will deserve a separate thread under "Pick A Song And Analyze" section, as you will give many interesting and additional details on the song, movie, picturization etc. We all are awaiting that !

Dear Saradha (and Irene) The great Song.... "Manithan Enbavan" from "Sumai Thaangi"... That is definitely in my list. And so is "Naan Nandri Solven". Both fall to the same Rhythm pattern that I've chosen. They will follow very soon!

Dear Usha, "Paaduvor Paadinaal" is definitely a piano wonder. Amazing usage for a charming melody !!! But that is a different rhythm. After this article I'll definitely take that up (Our P.Ramesh had requested "I'll Sing For You" in his earlier posts). Both these songs.....Sure !!!

And Dear Dad, thanks for your reply too.... Nice to know that you read my analysis many times and enjoyed. Yes, I definitely remember the fun and enjoyment when I played MSV songs on keyboard and sit in the corner of the room and wonder: "What made MSV to use this note/chord". As you may know, I still wonder without an answer. Very Happy

And dear all, Regarding writing in Tamil.... I wanted to share that, the day I researched and found out the method. But when I start to write it, I'll play some MSV song in my speakers which will generate interest in me to write about the song and I'll immediately start to write something on the song.

To admit a truth, I even carried my laptop even during my last weekend trip (To NewYork/NewJersey) and I started to write articles whenever I get even a small gap Very Happy Now Roopa has started to grab my laptop when I write articles, for her to complete the "Songs" section which she is doing in a full swing!!! To summarize we both have become "MSVTIMES" fanatics !!!! Very Happy

I assure to "MSV Club" that I'll give the detailed method "How to write in Tamil" within a week. And take it from me.... Tamil writing it is VERY easy !!!

MSVTimes Rocks !!!

Hey Ram,

Thanks for talking about My Piano Man MSV. The number of innumerable varities given by our Master Creator needs to be discussed in detail. My classification is just only the tip of the iceberg. Imagine if I had to classify the songs based on only instruments, then I would be doing it for the rest of my life!!! I think MSV is probably the only MD who has used so many instruments. RAM, THAT REMINDS ME OF THE ORCHESTRA CREW LIST. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO UPLOAD THAT PSE???

REGARDS
VAIDY

Did U notice one remarkable improvisation for the interludes ? The guitar , piano and the violin section will complement each other and INFACT, IT WILL BE LIKE A COUNTERPOINT TECHNIQUE Shocked One trying to overlap another , is all amazing stuff . Unbelievable orchestration !

And heavy sangadhi !
