Dear Friends

“kAdhal enum vadivom kandEn”

MSV- THE DECORATOR

The song of the year 1962 [‘Bhagyalakshmi’] from MSV-TKR stable is an

item soaked in melody. What makes it melodious is just the tune. The tune

lives up through the zeal of emotion rendered in a decorated play of words

with the characteristic MSV magic.

The magic in this number relates to the nuance of tune setting and skillful

rendering of words. Look at the way P S effectively sings the words with

awesome glee imbuing a parallel feel of ‘not yet’ in true reflection of the

lyric by Kaviarasu Kannadasan. Certainly, it is the tune that has done the

magic. Obviously, it showcases the repertoire of MSV in this domain.

My calling MSV - The decorator is from the way he has elevated the

emotion by oh oh OOOOO and ah ah AAAAA that lends the ground for

a simple orchestration in strings, violin and percussion that faithfully

traverses the path precisely connecting the meeting point for ‘pallavi’ to

come alive again.

The brilliance of this song is its simplicity in imposing the grip on the listener.

Try this in Youtube.com/watch?v=mRbpq72jxmy

Warm regards

p suseela'S effortless singing ,mellisaimanar's magical tune make this a memorable song - little less known as probably over shadowed by other two epic songs

i really wonder when the present day MD boost about one or two songs (?) that supposed to have been tuned greatly by them , how this dynamic man brought tune after tune from his little brain - AMAZING

Dear Mr. vk,

Thank you for providing the right link. Obviously, when

people fight it hard to arrive at something resembling a tune, if they

tumble upon something - they are relieved of having 'composed' a tune. If

such people get 1 song right, necessarily they trumpet it, for, they have

squeezed themselves in and out for just one tune.

For MSV, the process is quite different; even as he

gazes the lyric word, his 'music brain' culls out a pattern that ably portrays

the situation -making it the best fit for picturisation. His brain may be

seemingly small but imagination and musical sense are products of deep

involvement which accrue from the LIBERAL BLESSINGS OF THE

ULTIMATE. MSV IS THE CHOICE REPRESENTATIVE OF GODDESS

SARASWATHI, IF HIS RANGE IS ANY INDICATION.

THANKS for the opportunity.

Warm regards K.Raman Madurai.

Dear Prof. Raman,

That the high flying emotions of the woman in love and the dream of getting married can never be interpreted in a better way through music than what MSV has done. This song from the movie Bhagyalakshmi (btw, I believe MSV adores this ragam also) has emotions packed all the way till the last postlude and is 50 years young!!!

The prelude opens up with a huge ensemble of violins to announce to the world that here's a woman bitten by the love bug and is so happy & bubbly. Happy to have fallen in love is what is conveyed throughout this song by the sheer lyrical magic of Kannadasan!! The flute interludes (something totally new even as of today) and the tabla rhythm variations can only be conceived by our Master and no one else in this world. If any of you haven't listened to the title music of this movie, please do...

I am dedicating the last portion of my post exclusively to P. Susheela for having done absolute justice (when has she ever done injustice???!!!) to our Master's tune by her haunting voice that will make anyone fall in love all over and over again...Truly an epic song of the 60's... Girls from the city colleges in Chennai, please listen to this song if you wanna be love bugged instantly!!!

CHEERS

Dear Sirs,
Percussion again! What a way to softly play on the dholak and the tabla! So crisp and yet gentle and soft,.. marvellous playing by the duo, in yet another landmark song highlighted (also) by the percussion.
Thanks,
Sai Saravanan

Dear Professor,

This song shows that prior to Paava Manippu MSV was already looking at the new concept of music making.

Especially the line 'maalaiyidum naalai enni mayangugiren aasai thannil' reveals that aspect.

Thanks

Dear Prof

there is no doubt He is one among (along with KD PS ) favourite sons/dsaughter of GODDESS ,who has blessed them with abundance of talent.

but what surprises me , i am sure the film industry has not given them too many new scenes situations , but for the same situations every time MSV brings in a fresh melody .(like KD used to ask Visu innikkum dueta[ which obviously indicates the boring nature of scenes given to them but inspite of that they have never held back any thing with them -and gave another immortal melody again.

Vaidy endorse your view other than your advc to young laces (i have a girl
to get marriage )ha ha
