Dear Friends,
As has been expressed by our forum friends, the event registered a phenomenal success despite the austerity in terms of publicity and the prospect of rain playing its spoil sport capabilities. Fearing rain's asuming serious proportions, the attendance from general public was just adequate though not discouraging. From 5.30 pm to 10 pm people stayed at the venue until the event was declared closed. Knowing the general trend of audience - the 'vanishing breed' [ who would always vanish when a session of songs is interrupted for an event like 'Awards ceremony'] their staying anchored at the venue is proof of the pudding. Yes, I mean the rich delicacies served on them on golden platter in the augst company of Mellisai mannar and his GUITARIST LRGEND Shri. S.Philip who was honoured on the occasion besides of course the in absentia honour to [ the legendary associate of Shri. MSV] Shri.R.Govardhanam.
It is my genuine delight to state that the performance by
M/S Sridar Navarags was excellent to say the least. Also, the songs chosen for the event were superb numbers that most singer groups in TN do not dare venture some of them on stage. One such was 'Vara vEndum oru pozhudhu' from "kalaikkoil"- 1964. In fact, the orchestra more than justified all the songs chosen by the event managers from MSVTimes.com.
Truly it was a revelation that quite a few youngsters were possessed by those numbers and the audience faithfully applauded every dexterous effort in rendering the songs. The unexpected arrival and participation [on stage] by Mrs.Vani Jayaram was a bonus heavier than expected.
All we now need to do is to draw more members to our forum in our effort to consolidate the efforts of propogating the grandeur of Shri. MSV.
I got a lot of 'food for thought' from the event.
Warm regards K.Raman Madurai. _________________ Prof. K. Raman
